my roommate and i drove up past the mountains today to an area called los olivos where the sunlight and scenery were outstanding! i haven't shot a legit self portrait in sometime now so i decided to spend a good amount of time getting this one right; the light, the pose, and especially the focus... ha!

ab400 dished/boomed high camera left.
triggered via sync cord.
powered via mini lithium vagabond.

5dmk2 + 50mm f/1.4 + .6 tiffen ND

just snapped a lot of waves crashing over the rock shots. this was my favorite. edited it by putting both shadow/highlight on 25. like how the water looks tropical :)

i was manning the camera/tripod while erika threw the cue ball to "break" it haha. saw this idea on here a while ago and thought i'd give it a try. this was down in the outer banks. forgot i had this! 6 stop and 9 stop nd filters along with a 2.5 second shutter.

nice little waterfall outside of the talbott's house. no tripod.. i set it down on some bricks they had around the pond. nd .9 stop tiffen filter along with a 2.5 second exposure!

really wanted to get that "foggy/misty" feel.. considering it was 2pm, with a ton of sun, i couldn't fully get it here. it was overexposed even with a 6 and 9 stop grad nd filters stacked. 10 second exposure.

another long exposure. found out how to get better long exposures in broad daylght. set it on av and choose the smallest aperture. never thought about it.. but it's really simple haha. i think the f/stop is like 22 on this one. 32 second exposure with the 6 & 9 stop nd filters stacked on the 18-55 kit lens.

i've been dying to do this. i see these shots everywhere on flickr. well, one morning we got up early for the sunrise.. pretty lame sunrise. but i got a few shots like this before the sun came up. i stacked me 6 stop and 9 stop nd filters for this shot.
