The Appalachian Trail runs along northern and western edges of the pond.<br /> <br /> I wanted a nice location to try out my new Lee Big Stopper and my brother (<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sssmithphoto">ssmithphoto</a>) being the backcountry enthusiast that he is, suggested this spot. It was about a 1.2 mile hike (with 1000ft of elevation) through a hardwood forest to the spot where the pond lies in the mountains. There is a spot along the north edge of the pond that is scattered with boulders and rocks; it's a great place to drop your gear, sit back and enjoy the view.<br /> <br /> P.S.
