Austria - Österreich - Blue hour over charming village of Hallstatt - UNESCO World Heritage site

Hallstatt, Upper Austria is a village in the Salzkammergut, a region in Austria. It is located near the Hallstätter See (a lake). It's a scenic jewel, a hamlet of hill-hugging chalets, elegant church spires and ancient inns all reflected in the deep still waters of an Alpine lake. Hallstatt's beauty has earned it a listing as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It is truely wonderful place that should not be missed on any visit to Austria !

Btw, you surely know that Chinese are famous for copying handbags, sunglasses, shoes, cars and now they decided to copy this whole village : news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110617/ap_on_en_ot/eu_austria_copy_...

Austria - Österreich - Vienna - Wien - Karlsplatz - Karlskirche - St. Charles's Church at Sunrise

The St. Charles's Church - Karlskirche - is a church situated on the south side of Karlsplatz, Vienna. It is one of the most outstanding baroque church structures, and boasts a dome in the form of an elongated ellipsoid. Ever since Karlsplatz was restored as an ensemble in the late 1980s, the Karlskirche has garnered fame due to its dome and its two flanking columns of bas-reliefs, as well as its role as an architectural counterweight to the buildings of the Musikverein and of the Vienna University of Technology. The church is cared for by a religious order and has long been the parish church as well as the seat of the Catholic student ministry of the Vienna University of Technology.

It's a scenic jewel, a hamlet of hill-hugging chalets, elegant church spires and ancient inns all reflected in the deep still waters of an Alpine lake. Hallstatt's beauty has earned it a listing as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It is truely wonderful place that should not be missed on any visit to Austria. I have (of course) taken its classic shot from shores of the lake, but for now I have decided to post view point from above taken during twilight. The village is hardly lit, so I really had to push the ISO as well as the exposure to get the city nicely lit.

Austria - Österreich - Gmunden an der Traun - Schloss Ort at Gmunden & Traunsee lake at Rainy Dusk - Twilight - Blue Hour

Schloss Ort (or Schloss Orth) is an Austrian castle situated in the Traunsee lake, in Gmunden, 19 km from Vöcklabruck, the gate to Salzkammergut. Ort Castle is built on ancient Roman foundations that are set on a tiny isle a few kilometers offshore from the town’s center.

Yet another result of a rainy evening and me holding an umbrella above the camera. There are rather high mountains behind the castle, however due to the heavy rain.. not much can be seen.. As with my previous Austria shot, I'm really pleased with this result and it shows that it is worth being out there even when there is a rain !

Austria - Traunkirchen - Rainy Blue Hour on Traunsee Lake in Austrian Alps

This shot is such an unexpected result and a great proof that perseverance pays off. It was taken during very rainy evening with blue hour nearly finished. I noted this composition during the day and decided to give it a try while standing in heavy rain with umbrella above my head. I was really nicely surprised by this great result as the 500 ISO and f5 are sensitive enough to capture that faint light from nearby street that was slightly reflected on the boat the pier. The result is really unusual from what I see normally so I'm really pleased with it.
