This is a session for MBS Japan (毎日放送) and exactly for a TV show called 「枠アリ」 where I'm
going to participate this weekend. The idea of the producers was to shoot a girl in the Christmas atmosphere, before a date. That's why I chose as a location this place which is actually just in front of my university.

The TV show is going to be recorded and broadcasted this weekend, and some of these pictures will appear there. I will also be there talking how I took the pictures. Actually the guys from the TV today were video taping me shooting the girl, and I'm very curious to see myself.

I will post a link to the TV show here as soon as I can have it! Hope it's gonna be interesting.

Here are some shots of Misa, taken at Takedao, this is a really awesome location a friend of mine told me about an year ago, and since then I went there a few times. There are old railway tunnels that are not used anymore, and not are a kind of a hiking course. The place is fantastc for experimenting with flashes inside the tunnel!

In most of the photos I've been using orange to lit the tunnel, and actually it's quite a big one, so I found myself using 2-3 flashes only for that!

Also when I was shooting inside the tunnel, it's completely dark there, so basically what I can see from the viewfinder is black, so in some of the photos it's been quite of a lottery to get the right ballance! Also I was using a flashlight to lit her so I can actually focus!

The pictures from this set are taken at Umeda Sky Building in Osaka. I really love the escalators at the Sky Building, think they are a really nice location to shoot! Anyway have to be patient because of the so many visitors, that should not be in the frame!

It was raining all day long, and we were already trying to decide with the girls where to shoot, should we go under some bridge where it's not so wet, or shoot in the rain, hard to decide! It was already getting 5pm, and I was tending to go under one bridge, but suddenly I look through the window, rain stopped! And sun was trying to go out, that was beautiful!

So we took these pictures in a local park at Nada, Kobe, and had to shoot fast, because light was dropping and we were losing it. Anyway we had one of the most beautiful skies I've seen these days!

That's my favorite picture of the set, maybe because of the emotion, and also the composition in it! The girls were throwing the grass, and some police guys were wondering what is going on, but fortunately they didn't say anything!

Sometimes I really love playing around and shooting one of the most difficult to please models in the world, but in many cases it's the only one I have - Myself! ;) I've been quite busy recently and didn't have time to take a lot of photos, but now since I finished my studies I'm gonna have time and do some more self portraits, so this will be the first from the series I'm thinking about!

That was a damn cold night in Kobe, don't ask me how I motivated myself to go out in the middle of the night and do this! So, about the setup I'm using, my main light is coming from a gridded 80x60cm softbox on the left of the camera, I wanted to have some cool light on myself here! And for some fill on the right I'm having a shoot through umbrella with a Nikon SB-26 and a blue gel. I'm using some blue gels on this shot to make up a little the atmosphere the way I wanted it to be, a little colder. Also behind me you can see one more blue gelled Nikon SB-26, and there is also a gridded flash on the left side. That one I use to put some more detail on the objects in front of me, and I gridded it to restrict the light that I didn't want to hit me.

This is one awesome location for photoshoots, where I got one of my best shots ever. Because of that photo, that you might have already seen, this shot was a it in the shadow, although the light here is a little different, and even I have a strobe added behind her. Also here what I like is the beautiful stream of sunlight, making that warm feeling to the photo!

Shooting at Andy's Imagine Bar I wanted to get some kind of golden brown colors for the wall behind him so I used 1/2 CTO and 3 flash units to light the wall. I really liked that wall so I though some warm colors would really suit it!

Now this is seriously one of my favorite strobist works I've ever done! I got 6 lights involved in the shot, so it took some time to arrange everything, and then shoot if for 5 minutes while he was singing a song!

The bar is called Andy's Imagine, and the owner Andy is a really good friend of mine, and he is a great man!

First I was setting up the main light, and I used a reflective umbrella on his left-up side, and I added one more umbrella behind that one, so I can get a bit more even light in him.

Than I started working on the wall, the color of the was was a bit colder, so I used some CTOs to warm it up, and I put 3 more flashes on the sofa under the wall with gels so I can get a bit warmer overall feeling for the photo.

In the and I wanted to set up one more bare flash as a back light for him, and I also put some CTO on it to warm up his hair.

Best Friends 「大切な友達」

One of these 3 girls is a very special friend of mine, last month she was coming from Tokyo to Kansai, and I went all the way to Kyoto to meet her after long time, and when I went to the cafe where she was waiting for me she was with 2 more girls, her classmates from school, she hasn't met them for I think she said more than 10 years, and they had lost their trails long time ago! All of them live in Tokyo, but they happened to meet again in Kyoto, just by chance! And it was so amazing that they recognized themselves, although they changed for that time! Or maybe not... ;) Friendship is very important thing, don't lose the trails of your friends, they are important!

Shoot myself in the rain!

I was walking outside in the rain, alone, without umbrella I was all wet, then when I arrived at home I thought i can maybe make some dramatic photo in that rain, so took my camera and left... I was so wet after I finished, and I guess I was so funny cuz I was alone, and had no one to press the shutter button, so I used the self timer, and I was running a lot front and back

That was a really fast decision to go out and do some shots in the rain. I had a bunch of plastic bag, that I used to cover my flashes. Also packed with several umbrellas, some for protection from the rain, and some for shooting, and for about 1 hour playing in the rain I was so wet that my clothes were just stuck to me.

I'm using the fastest speed to sync my flashes, because I wanted to kill all the ambient light. In order to get many waterdrops not only around the umbrella I setup 2 more SB-26 flashes so I have more of them fixed around me. All the flashes are in plastic bags. I will put some setup shots later too!
