We had clear blue skies and a great turnout for the annual fundraiser for the local humane society/ shelter. My dad [ 87 yrs old], his dog Annie, my sister and sister-in-law joined me. We had a great time. I'm pooped. I'll try to make it to your stream tonight--if I don't I'll be there tomorrow for sure.

Disclaimer: The harsh mid-morning sunlight was a nightmare ...lots of shadows and washed out light on all. Consequently, I didn't take as many pics as in the past.

Handsome Mallard [ Drake ]

Yesterday I went in search of ducklings but all I found were adult drakes. The wetland was over flowing so the bullfrogs were not sunning themselves. I had discovered a large property that was over run with cottontails, so I went there first hoping to take some pics but when I arrived someone was cutting down the grass with a riding lawnmower so no bunnies in sight.

June is our youngest cat at age 10. Today we took her to our vet for her annual exam, blood work, urinalysis, and radiographs. Her teeth looked good so don't need to have them cleaned. She has a slight heart murmur that was discovered a few years ago...and hasn't worsened. I'm sure her xrays and blood work will come back normal tomorrow.....as she's the healthiest of our three cats.

June wasn't happy about going to the vet as she cried a bit on the way over. Thankfully we live super close to the clinic.

Just a few snaps from our afternoon walk to the woods in our neighborhood. We still go every day despite not having Jasmine --which was the reason we got started. I always take my camera as there's always something to take pics of.

Tomcat TNR

The other day I got a phone call from someone I had done cat TNR for in the past. She asked if I could please come over and trap a nice tomcat that they've been feeding. It seems he's been spraying their yard a lot and fighting with their cat [a male that I neutered 1.5 yrs ago].

Thankfully, the trapping was super easy as the people are retired so all I had to do was set the trap and they watched it for me. He went into the trap late last night and Emory and I picked him up and delivered him to my vet this morning.

The caretaker called me last night after he had gone inside the trap, ate all the food and backed out w/out springing the trap door. I asked her to put in more food and re-set the trap. Hours later, success!

Nature is soothing for a broken heart. I'm just really not doing well. Went to the doctor yesterday because my mouth hurt...my gums were swollen and inflamed. I'm just feeling blah and run down.

Just posting these for my flower set. No need to comment. I am on Flickr sporadically as my laptop is only working 50% of the time. I'm moping around the house....and viewing pics of shelter dogs online but not ready to adopt. More below.

Won't be posting again until Saturday [ Rusty pics].

Don't know what these yellow flowers are called but they're at the entrance to our woods. They bloomed about a month ago and are still in great shape. There are so many it takes your breath away.

Ellsworth Springs Woods. I don't know what kind of plant/ leaves this is but love their shape and green color.

Not many mushrooms around despite the Spring warm weather. It's been a bit too dry. I was happy to spot this one in our neighorhood woods.

Emory at Ellsworth Springs Woods

We live in a very wooded neighborhood and every afternoon Emory and I take a little walk thru the area preserved as a natural area. It used to be our dog's [Jasmine] favorite thing to do mid-afternoon.

Today we picked up Jasmine's ashes. Tomorrow we will scatter her ashes in the forest which will be her final resting place.

Time heals.....but it's only been a week since losing our girl....so we are still raw with emotion.

Thank you for all your caring comments. This will be my last post regarding Jasmine's passing. I will move on beginning tomorrow. Receiving Jasmine's ashes gives us closure .....

2013 Bridal Show

Yesterday I went to the Annual Auto Show with my dad.
Today I went to a Bridal Show with my sister
[ she's getting married this summer].
I was hoping to take some pics to post on Flickr
but the lighting at both venues was difficult and
neither show had much to photograph w/out
getting people or clutter in the shots--I have
nothing new to post.

Keiko [ 14+ yrs old] had her vet appt today. Although we won't get her blood work back until tomorrow, our vet was very impressed with how healthy she looked.

Update: Jan. 10, 2013: Keiko was diagnosed having hyperthyroidism. We are so sad about this but are hoping the oral medications will help her and it will not shorten her life.

Also:
My vet gave me a topical tapeworm treatment [ Profender] to put on the cat at the park caretaker's house. So, it wasn't necessary to take him in. I put it on him this morning and am hoping it get's rid of his parasites pronto.
