Aquatic Park - San Francisco California

Sort of a last minute meet up with Albert... I had plans to try and finish up one last image for an ongoing project, but this time of year is not right for the sun positions, and well..... the sun doesn't really show up that often for a summer sunrise in San Francisco.

After a quick discussion about where to meet, we decided that the Hyde st Pier / Aquatic Park area would be a good place to meet up. I had plans to make a few images from the lower side of the pier, but a nice sailboat blocked part of the composition that I had in mind... Nothing new having to visit a place over and over, I decided to put that composition on hold. We made our way out on to the pier then headed up the hill for a few more compositions. A busy scene for sure, but the fog really helped minimize the East Bay hills in the background.

Scanned, and re-scanned... I am finally getting a solid workflow with the complete film process, so I decided to go back to an image that I made on a early July sunrise meet with Albert, and Nathan. It was a nice and cool morning along the bay shoreline discussing photography and other technical nonsense. Just as the sun broke the horizon and showed its brilliant light behind the marine layer, all chatter dropped off, and we all just stood and watched as a fresh new day started.
