I'll have another chance to catch Macy's 4th of July Fireworks over the Hudson River and NYC this July. I can't wait! It's back on the Hudson and Usher is curating the show, so of course it's gonna be good. I've been itching to go back for the 4th now for 3 years...ever since failing to acquire a good spot that was NOT in back of several taller people in Weehawken. It was a major failure on my part, with only one usable picture (this one), to which I was not very happy. I will make a point to arrive extra early this time for sure!!!

Have barely touched my camera since getting back from Vegas (haven't done much of anything for that matter). And with a sore throat the past few days, I figured it would be ANOTHER good chance to go through old pics. I shot a fisheye version of this and posted it back in September. But the fisheye pics I took didn't get too great of a reception, so I figured I'd finally work on the standard shot. Plus now I can edit RAW in Lightroom 4, so all the better! I wish WTC 2 and WTC 3 would have been further along, as it would have filled the frame rather nicely.

I saw Chasing Ice in December at the Crest Theater (If you haven't seen it, see it now. Stunning photography). I loved the ending sequence more than anything else, but I had no idea it was Scarlett Johansson singing this hauntingly beautiful piece. Nor did I know it was nominated for an Oscar, which even further blew my mind. I'm glad that it will bring a lot more publicity to the movie and the ongoing dramatic changes in climate on our planet. But at the same time the song reinforces my melancholy state as of late.
