WAS: Is this Pachira aquatica?

Thanks to knowledgeable folks at the GardenWeb forums, I now believe this to be Chorisia speciosa. If anyone has a better suggestion, please let me know!

Would like to positively identify this tree. Its fruit looks like pics I found of Pachira aquatica, commonly called Malabar chestnut, Guiana chestnut, provision tree, and saba nut. However, when I took my pics of this tree--in early February in Southern California--there were absolutely *NO* leaves on it. I cannot find a single photo online of a similar tree WITHOUT leaves but WITH a plethora of its fruit, which was green. Also, this tree was nowhere near water...which makes me doubt it's actually a Pachira aquatica.

Fans of the old "Fantasy Island" TV show should recognize this as the landing spot for "de planes!" arriving at the island. Guess what? It's actually the lagoon behind the Queen Anne Cottage at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden, in Arcadia. Many other productions have used the Arboretum for filming, including the "Tarzan" movies. When I drive by, I frequently see productions filming there. Located about two miles from my home, I can visit the Arboretum whenever I please, and it's an amazing place!

Fans of the old "Fantasy Island" TV show should recognize this as Mr Roarke's house--with the tower where Tattoo rang the bell and announced, "de plane! de plane!" Did you know that this is actually the Queen Anne Cottage at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden, in Arcadia? Located about two miles from my home, I can visit the Arboretum whenever I please, and it's an amazing place!

Laurel and Hardy/Music Box Steps plaque

This plaque is located at the base of the very famous staircase featured in Laurel and Hardy's "The Music Box." The staircase, which has 131 steps, is located in the 900 block of Vendome St in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.

Laurel and Hardy fans will definitely recognize this very famous staircase. It played a big role in 1932's "The Music Box" when Stan and Oliver lose control of a crate carrying a piano, and the crate careens down the stairs. The staircase, which has 131 steps, is located in the 900 block of Vendome in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.
