common redpoll - female

about halfway between kalispell and libby MT

finally got a decent view of a redpoll flock after first seeing them about 2 weeks ago. poor light and snow, but was quite a treat to watch. these guys seem to have brought some snow with them - our first in a while. seen in a flock of about 100 along the fisher river.

the glacier high snowy again - this time with terrible light and a less-than-ideal perch, but I loved the pose. pretty bad ass owl if you ask me.

pretty amazing, a lifer owl for me and some good light. what a morning! sounds like this is a pretty good "sothern irruption" year for snowy owls. there have been 3-4 reported in our valley so far.
