In honour of my photographic friend Barry John Smith, Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (FPSNZ) who passed away suddenly just six days ago. He was a shining light that many followed. Rest in Peace my friend.

Union Parish Church spire just before sunset on 22/01/06. Five years and one month to the day the spire of this church will have been lifted off the brick work and the brick church ready for urgent demolition due to the major earthquake that struck the Christchurch area at 12:51pm on 22/02/11. The spire still sits on the ground beside the empty section where the church was.

We had just parked to go to the funeral of a good friend in photography (Barry Smith FPSNZ) when I saw the sign in a shop window with "Trev" on it. "Look Trev" I said to my friend, "it's you there". Baaaaa!

Both images shot with an EOS-M and the 22mm f/2 STM lens.

Returning on a ten minute flight from Malolo Lailai (an off shore island) to Nadi aboard Fiji Air Britten-Norman Islander DQ-FCA a BN2A-27. August 1973. Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II and either a Takumar 50mm f/1.4 or the Takumar 24mm.
Note: this is not the wing on the left but part of the landing gear strut.
Slide scanned on an Epson V700.
