Shop Beside Train Station in Zermott

While staying in Brig, Switzerland, we lucked out and got a lovely day to head to Zermott and take the train up to Gornergrat to see the Matterhorn.

This lovely shop greeted us as we got off the train we had to take from Täsch to Zermott (not allowed to drive cars to Zermott). (12-09-23-2857)

Speyer Cathedral: Anemone and Buds

The 3rd day of our Rhine River Cruise found us in Speyer, Germany, where we had some free time to explore the town and visit its impressive church.

There were some lovely gardens at the back of the cathedral, including numerous anemones. (12-10-09-4065)

14th Century Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke)

One of the 'must sees' while visiting Lucerne, Switzerland, is the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), which was built in the first half of the 14th century across the Reuss River, at an angle so as to connect the town's medieval fortifications.

Named after the nearby St. Peter's Chapel, the bridge is unique, not only because it is the world's oldest covered wooden footbridge, but because it contains a number of triangular roof panels, dating back to the 17th century, which show important events depicting the development of the town, as well as its two patron saints. While staying at the Las Vegas Thousand Trails Resort, we took a trip out to see Red Rock Canyon west of the city. This was seen during the hike we took from the Sandstone Quarry area along the Calico Tanks Trail. (12-03-09-5434)

While staying at Ridgeview RV Resort in Bullhead City, Arizona, we took a trip across the Colorado River into Nevada, and traveled along nearby Christmas Tree Pass Road. We parked at the Grapevine Canyon Trailhead and went for a hike. Along the way, there were quite a few different wildflowers, including these pink beauties! (12-03-02-4868)

Seen in the garden of friends of mine in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Greg is a real Dahlia enthusiast, and not only has a wonderful variety of them in his garden, but has also gotten some of his neighbours growing them as well! (10-10-06-5712 )

While staying at Lake Easton, along Washington's I-90, we drove into Ellensburg to do some shopping, and on the way back, stopped off at 2 fruit stands to get some peaches and nectarines. This beauty was at one of them the one at exit 93. (11-09-09-3690)

These pretty little yellow flowers, clinging to the canyon wall, are not listed on the Desert Wildflower list at desertusa.com. Seen hiking up Ladder Canyon on our second trip to the Painted Canyon near Mecca, California. There were more wildflowers evident than on our first trip almost 2 weeks ago. (11-02-16-4476)

This pretty little pink/mauve flower does not seem to be listed on the Desert Wildflower list at desertusa.com.

Seen hiking up Ladder Canyon on our second trip to the Painted Canyon near Mecca, California. There were more wildflowers evident than on our first trip almost 2 weeks ago. (11-02-16-4479)

Seen at the Moorten Botanical Garden. Located in beautiful Palm Springs, California, Moorten Botanical Garden was established in 1938 by Chester "Cactus Slim" Moorten and his wife, Patricia Moorten and is now owned and operated by their son, Clark Moorten. The gardens, most of which are outdoors, have about 3,000 examples of desert cacti and other desert plants grouped by geographic regions: Arizona, Baja California, California, Colorado, the Mojave desert, the Sonora desert, South Africa, arid South America, and Texas.

There is also a small "Cactarium" greenhouse which houses other cacti and succulents. (11-02-15-4314 )
