Many of the babies at the rescue center had cleft lip and palate. Some of them were abandoned, but others were brought by their parents who sought out help to care for them. This little guy was a sweetie... he loved to cuddle! Yeah, I was pretty much in heaven.

This is Maria Louisa. I'm going to be working on bringing her here as an exchange student!! She was raised at the orphanage and is the sweetest 12 yo kid you'd ever want to meet.

But I am back in the States. My life has been amazing and crazy for the last few weeks... we bought a house, moved and within a week were thousands of miles away in Guatemala. It wasn't like we planned it that way, but I wasn't about to miss my first trip out of North America! Now, I've left my heart in Guatemala. It's a land of stunning countryside and stark poverty, the contrast was almost too much to take in at times. During my week there, the group I was with built a school house (no electricity or running water makes that easy to do in a short time!) and established a twice a week feeding program in "our" village. I will, without a doubt in my heart, return there again... and maybe someday to stay. I'll be trying to upload my favorites of the 800+ shots that I took. In the mean time I have returned to a full work schedule and trying to get my kids settled into a new school year... please forgive me if I can't visit much!

I had no intention of using an iPhone shot today... but I was playing with my phone camera while I was at Tropical Smoothie and POW! This happened.

Due to the fact that I was at Trop Smooth getting a smoothie for my 14 year old who had her wisdom teeth removed first thing this morning I thought to my self... 'Self, you might have a busy day taking care of your girl so why not use this shot? After all, you like it!. That, and it's not going to gross everyone out like the shot of her teeth that you were thinking of doing.' :oD Yeah, she wanted to keep the teeth so they're in a little plastic bag....

The other thing about this shot is it caught my Rogue streak at it's finest. I've developed this massive grey patch of hair RIGHT IN THE FRONT OF MY FOREHEAD in the last year or two. At first I was frustrated, then it dawned on me that it's my Rogue streak! If you don't know what I'm talking about just google X-Men, Rogue. ;o)
