Yesterday the weather was beautiful here. During a walk through the city with my oldest son and his girlfriend I had the opportunity to get the Opera house with nice reflections. I took this without tripod ... I hold the camera on the grass.

The Stuttgart Staatsoper is one of Europe's leading Opera Houses and forms part of the Stuttgart State Theatre (Staatstheater Stuttgart) which is a a three-branch-theatre complex (opera, playhouse and ballet) and represents the largest theatre of its kind in Europe.

The opera house itself, formerly known locally as the Grosses Haus, was designed by Max Littmann and opened in 1912 with the world premiere of Richard Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos". The house, which has been a listed building since 1924, currently has 1,404 seats and a per-season audience of approximately 250,000. The opera house building is one of the few major German opera houses not to be destroyed in the World War II. The smaller playhouse ("Kleines Haus") of the complex was destroyed in the war and replaced by a modern building, built between 1959 and 1962. The opera house is also home to the Stuttgart Ballet.

An important centre for opera since the 17th century, Stuttgart has again become an important and influential centre since the war, particularly for contemporary works. Three operas by Carl Orff received their premieres there and the company has been associated with figures such as Wieland Wagner, Günther Rennert, Hans Werner Henze and Philip Glass.

Bei einem Spaziergang mit meinem ältesten Sohn und seiner Freundin im Zentrum von Stuttgart konnte ich gestern das Opernhaus mit netter Spiegelung aufnehmen. Ich habe es ohne Stativ gemacht und die Kamera auf das Grass gehalten.

Die Staatstheater Stuttgart sind ein Drei-Sparten-Theater für Oper, Schauspiel und Ballett in der baden-württembergischen Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart.
Das ehemalige Königliche Hoftheater veranstaltete seine Aufführungen zunächst im Neuen Lusthaus, das im Jahr 1902 niederbrannte.

1909 bis 1912 wurden die Staatstheater Stuttgart vom Architekten Max Littmann aus München als Doppeltheater mit Großem und Kleinem Haus erbaut. Nach dem Sturz der Monarchie wurden die Königlichen Hoftheater umbenannt in Württembergisches Landestheater. Seit 1924 stehen die Gebäude unter Denkmalschutz. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg war nur noch das mit Säulen versehene Große Haus erhalten.

1959 bis 1962 wurde das Schauspielhaus, das sog. Kleine Haus, durch die Architekten Hans Volkart, Kurt Pläcking und Bertam Perlia neu errichtet. 1983 wurde das Kammertheater eröffnet, entworfen vom britischen Architekten James Stirling im Gebäude der Neuen Staatsgalerie.

Heute gehören zu den Staatstheatern vier Häuser:

Das Opernhaus verfügt über 1.404 Sitzplätze und ist die Bühne für die Staatsoper Stuttgart und das Stuttgarter Ballett.
Das Schauspielhaus mit 851 Sitzplätzen.
Im 1983 in der Neuen Staatsgalerie eröffnete Kammertheater mit 420 Sitzen werden kleinere Opern, Schauspiele oder auch Ballettinszenierungen aufgeführt.
Das Theater im Depot befindet sich in einem ehemaligen Straßenbahndepot im Stuttgarter Osten. (Quelle: Wikipedia)

The Mallard probably the best-known and most recognizable of all ducks, is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and sub-tropical areas of North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. The duck is 56 – 65 cm long, has a wingspan of 81 – 98 cm, and weighs 0.9 – 1.2 Kg.
The female Mallard is light brown, like most female dabbling ducks. They inhabit most wetlands, including parks, small ponds and rivers. Usually they feed by dabbling for plant food or grazing. There are reports of it eating frogs. The Mallard usually nests on a river bank, but not always near water. Quelle: Wikipedia.

I've seen this duck in the castle park in Stuttgart, Germany and love her dreaming glimpse.

Die Stockente ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Entenvögel (Anatidae). Als Stammform der Hausente ist sie die größte und am häufigsten vorkommende Schwimmente Europas. Sie kommt im größten Teil Eurasiens sowie weiten Teilen Nordamerikas vor. Neben Gewässern aller Art in der Großstadt besiedelt sie auch Kleinstgewässer der Ackerflur. Ähnlich anspruchslos ist sie in ihrer Nahrung.
Die Stockente, auch Wildente genannt, wiegt 700 bis 1.500 Gramm. Ihre Länge beträgt maximal 58 Zentimeter und ihre Flügelspannweite bis zu 95 Zentimeter und sie kann maximal 110 Kilometer pro Stunde schnell fliegen. Ihre Lebenserwartung beträgt bis zu 15 Jahre.
Das Männchens (Erpel) ist prächtig gefärbt. Mit Ausnahme im Zeitraum zwischen Juli und August wo er sein Schlichtkleid trägt und dem Weibchen zum Verwechseln ähnlich sieht. Das Federkleid des Weibchen ist nicht so farbenfroh und hat eine braun-grau gesprenkelte Tarnfärbung. Das einzig Auffällige ist der Flügelspiegel, der dem des Männchens entspricht. Sing Arias in Stuttgart, Germany

Who loves to sing arias? The State Opera in Stuttgart was built between 1909 - 1912 (architect Max Littmann) and belongs to the State Theatre. It is beautifully situated near the Eckensee in the castle garden. I love this building and the architecture. - This photo was taken 2006 with my Minolta SLR Camera.

Das Württembergische Staatstheater - Opernhaus in Stuttgart wurde erbaut von 1909 bis 1912 (Architekt Max Littmann).Es liegt wunderschön im Schlosspark beim Eckensee. Mir gefällt das Gebäude und die Architektur sehr gut. - Aufgenommen 2006 mit meiner damaligen Minolta Spiegelreflex. Württembergisches Staatstheater Stuttgart
