Blowing in the wind and the wind blows where he wants
also on the beach of De Haan, Belgium. There you can see the artwork from the Frenchman Daniel Buren in the third Art Triennial at sea with 100 flagpoles up with 100 windsocks. These are the tubes that you also can find on bridges or airports showing the wind direction.
They are candy-striped, like the fabrics of beach chairs in the summer and on my photo they just stand horizontal because of the wind. With his artwork Buren wants to inspire the illusion of a forest on the beach. The visitor can walk around and between them in an oasis of colors.
Through the game of ebb and flood of the North Sea and the light the flagpoles are sometimes small and far away, then large and dense.

De Haan is a municipality located in Belgium in the province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the villages of De Haan proper, Klemskerke, Vlissegem and Wenduine. Ostend, the nearest large town is 10 km away. It takes about 20 Minutes driving to Bruges. The coastal village of De Haan proper has maintained a low skyline so its many buildings in Belle Époque style are still prominently visible.
Its most famous resident was Albert Einstein, who lived there for six months in 1933 after leaving Nazi Germany. (Source: Wikipedia: De Haan, Belgium).

Vom Winde verweht und der Wind weht, wo er will,
auch am Strand von De Haan. Dort hat der Franzose Daniel Buren im Rahmen der dritten Kunst-Triennale am Meer 100 Fahnenmasten aufgestellt mit 100 Wetterhähnen daran. Das sind diese Stoffröhren, die auch an Brücken oder auf Flugplätzen die Windrichtung anzeigen.
Bunt-weiß-gestreift, wie die Stoffe von Strandkörben im Sommer, sind sie und auf meinem Foto lässt der Wind sie gerade stramm waagerecht stehen. Buren will mit seinem Kunstwerk die Illusion eines Waldes am Strand erwecken. Der Besucher kann zwischen ihnen herumlaufen und in einer Oase von Farben verrinnen.
Durch das Spiel von Ebbe und Flut der Nordsee sind die Fahnenstangen mal klein und weit weg, dann wieder groß und dicht.
De Haan, ist ein Ferienort und eine Gemeinde in Belgien in der Provinz Westflandern. Von den 12.243 Einwohnern leben ungefähr 5200 im Badeort De Haan.
De Haan liegt direkt an der Nordseeküste. In zentraler Lage im Ort befindet sich ein Haltepunkt der Küstenstraßenbahn Kusttram, welche sämtliche Orte an der belgischen Nordseeküste miteinander verbindet. Ostende, die nächste größere Stadt ist 10 km entfernt. Nach Brügge sind es ca. 17 km.
Der berühmteste Einwohner von De Haan war Albert Einstein, der 1933 dort sechs Monate nach seiner Flucht aus Deutschland lebte. (Quelle: Wikipedia: De Haan).

In the beginning of the year 2009 I started here with a guessing game ... now I will finish the year with a guessing game as well.

It was a cold winter day but the weather was beautiful, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. The light was nice during my walk so that the snow and ice were sparkling like jewellery and diamond.
I know you are all very creative ... which formation do you explore in the ice? I think you will not see a city or building but may be a flower, people, a face or even Mickey Mouse .... I see a barking dog ;-) ....

Suchspiel: Was entdeckt ihr im Eis?
Es war ein kalter Tag, aber das Wetter war sehr schön, die Sonne schien und der Himmel war blau. Das Licht war gut bei meinem Spaziergang, so dass der Schnee und das Eis glitzerte wie Diamanten und Juwelen.
Ihr seid doch alle sehr kreativ .... was seht ihr in dem Eis? Ich denke kaum eine Stadt oder ein Haus, aber vielleicht einen Mensch, ein Gesicht, eine Blume oder sogar Mickey Maus ... ich sehe einen bellenden Hund ... muss meinen Kopf dafür nach links neigen ;-))

White Winter Wonderland - Boulder, USA

It looks as if I had taken the picture in the dead of winter, right? In fact, I have seen this winter scene one morning in April 1998 in Boulder, USA. At that time I visited my daughter who was there for an au pair year.
Looking through my old negatives I found this winter image and some others which I made with my Minolta SLR and just scan. It is certainly one photo or another which I will share with you ;-).

Es sieht aus als ob ich das Bild im tiefsten Winter aufgenommen hätte, nicht wahr? Tatsächlich habe ich diese Winterszene einen Morgen im April 1998 in Boulder, USA erlebt. Ich habe damals meine Tochter besucht, die für ein Au-Pair Jahr dort war.

Bei Durchsicht meiner alten Fotonegative fand ich dieses Winterbild und einige andere mehr, die ich mit meiner Minolta Spiegelreflex gemacht habe und gerade einscanne. Es ist sicher noch das eine oder andere dabei was ich euch zeigen werde ;-).
Ich wünsche euch eine schöne Advent- und Vorweihnachtszeit!

Blowball: The parachutes of the dandelion always betray me into blowing.

By the way, do you know that a flower basket from a Dandelion have 200 - 400 parachutes, which go on a journey during good weather? With wind they can fly up to ten kilometers.

Pusteblume: Die Fallschirmchen des Löwenzahn verleiten mich doch immer wieder zum Pusten.

Übrigens, wußtet ihr, dass auf einem Blütenkorb 200 - 400 Fallschirme entstehen, die bei schönem Wetter auf die Reise gehen? Bei Wind können sie bis zu zehn Kilometer weit fliegen.

°°°Repost°°°: Nearly exactly two years ago I've taken the above shot.
I was again in the vineyards this afternoon. We have had a wonderful golden October day ... it was fun and very relaxing to walk in the hills in the warm sun.
But this year like in 2009 as well we will not get such gorgeous Indian Summer like 2008. The most grape leaves here get limp before colouring red.
Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead!

Almost everyone loves hedgehogs. This baby hedgehog was brought me during my 8-year NABU activity in Northern Germany in autumn 1999 for breeding. (I had a great garden next to the forest with a lot of plants and different flower). He weighed only 160 g. I have fed him with apples, nuts and cat food and gave him water to drink until he hibernated!
PLEASE, NEVER GIVE HEDGEHOGS MILK TO DRINK ... it is not good for them and they will get ill !!

Fast jeder liebt wohl Igel. Dieses Igelbaby wurde mir während meiner 8-jährigen aktiven NABU (Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.) Zeit in Norddeutschland im Herbst 1999 zur Aufzucht gebracht. (Ich hatte einen großen Garten am Wald mit vielen Bäumen, Sträuchern und viele verschiedene Blumen.) Er wog nur 160 g. Ich habe ihn bis zum Winterschlaf mit vegetarischer Kost wie Apfel, Samen, Nüsse und Futter von meiner Katze als Dosenfutter "aufgepäppelt"! Zu trinken bekam er Wasser.
BITTE IGELN NIEMALS MILCH ZUM TRINKEN GEBEN ... sie vertragen diese nicht und bekommen Durchfall !!!

Aufgenommen habe ich das Bild mit meiner damaligen Olympus Spiegelreflex Kamera und hatte es noch gescannt auf meinem PC .... damals hatte ich noch keine Digital Kamera ....

My third Flickr Birthday
Although I am being already a flickr member since 2007, I am actually activ here since June 2008.

In November 2007 my intention was to show my artwork, therefore my membername Batik(-)art. During the late spring in 2008 I came back, because of a friend, and took a second look. I saw all those fantastic photos and nothing could hold me up to share my photos with you. You help me a lot to learn more about taking photos and give me a lot of inspirations!

Your feedback on my photos is very important to me and I want to thank you all very much for more than 1.3 million views of my photos, more than 100,000 views of my stream, the countless comments I appreciate very much and always love to read, and not least the many faves! Thank you for taking time to look at my photos and comment!

I shot the elephant at the zoo in Denver last year, I liked his camera pose. Since the background was not very nice, I've decided on my first cropped version. I hope you like it!

Mein dritter Flickr Geburtstag
Obwohl ich bereits seit November 2007 Flickr Mitglied bin, begann meine Flickr-Aktivität erst im Juni 2008.
Zuerst wollte ich hier nur meine Batik-(Kunst)-Art, daher auch mein Mitgliedsname, vorstellen. Als mich im späten Frühjahr in 2008 ein Freund wieder herlockte, warf ich einen zweiten tieferen Blick in Flickr. Ich war fasziniert von den vielen fantastischen Fotos und nichts konnte mich mehr halten, meine Fotos mit euch zu teilen. Dank eurer Tips und Anregungen habe ich inzwischen schon viel dazu lernen können und sehr viele Anregungen bekommen!

Euer Feedback auf meine Fotos ist mir sehr wichtig und ich möchte ich euch allen ganz herzlich für mehr als 1,3 Millionen Aufrufe meiner Fotos, mehr als 100.000 Aufrufe meines Streams, die unzähligen Kommentare, die ich sehr schätze und immer wieder sehr gerne lese, und nicht zuletzt die vielen Faves danken!

Den Elefant habe ich letztes Jahr in Zoo in Denver fotografiert, seine Kamera Pose gefiel mir. Da der Hintergrund allerdings nicht sehr schön war, habe ich mich zu meinem ersten freigestellten Bild entschlossen. Ich hoffe, es gefällt euch!

Jellyfish (also known as jellies or sea jellies or medusozoa) are free-swimming members of the phylum Cnidaria. Jellyfish have several different morphologies that represent several different cnidarian classes including the Scyphozoa (over 200 species), Staurozoa (about 50 species), Cubozoa (about 20 species), and Hydrozoa (about 1000–1500 species that make jellyfish and many more that do not). The jellyfish in these groups are also called, respectively, scyphomedusae, stauromedusae, cubomedusae, and hydromedusae. All jellyfish are embodied in the Medusozoa subphylum. Medusa is another word for jellyfish, and as such is used to refer specifically to the adult stage of the life cycle.

Jellyfish are found in every ocean, from the surface to the deep sea. Some hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusae, are also found in fresh water; freshwater species are less than an inch (25 mm) in diameter, are colorless and do not sting. Many of the best-known jellyfish, such as Aurelia, are scyphomedusae. These are the large, often colorful, jellyfish that are common in coastal zones worldwide.

In its broadest sense, the term jellyfish also generally refers to members of the phylum Ctenophora. Although not closely related to cnidarian jellyfish, ctenophores are also free-swimming planktonic carnivores, are generally transparent or translucent, and exist in shallow to deep portions of all the world's oceans.

Als Qualle, im wissenschaftlichen Sprachgebrauch auch Medusa (Pl. Meduse; Medusae) genannt, bezeichnet man ein Lebensstadium von Nesseltieren (Cnidaria) und Rippenquallen (Ctenophora). Im populärwissenschaftlichen Sprachgebrauch hat sich die Bezeichnung Quallen für die Gruppen der Nesseltiere eingebürgert, die ein Medusenstadium bilden.

Die meisten Arten mit einem Quallenstadium leben im Meer. Es gibt aber auch Süßwasserquallen, die aus Asien stammen und mittlerweile auch in deutschen Gewässern heimisch sind. Quallen bevölkern seit mehr als 500 Millionen Jahren die Weltmeere.

Quallen sind gallertartige Organismen, die zu rund 98 bis 99 Prozent aus Wasser bestehen. Ihre Gestalt ist schirmartig mit einem hängenden Magenstiel (Manubrium), an dessen Unterseite sich eine Mundöffnung befindet. Sie bestehen aus zwei einschichtigen, nur knapp ein fünfzigstel Millimeter dicken Gewebslagen, der Außenhaut (Exodermis) und der Innenhaut (Endodermis), zwischen denen eine zellfreie Schicht, die Mesogloea, liegt.

Die meisten Quallen haben lange Tentakel, die mit Nesselzellen ausgestattet sind. Diese benutzen sie zum Fang von Beutetieren oder zur Verteidigung. Diese Nesselzellen sind über die Fangarme verstreut und bilden ein giftiges Sekret. Kommt es zu einer Berührung am Cnidocil (einem Fortsatz der Nesselzellen), platzt die Nesselkapsel im Innern der Nesselzelle mit einem Druck von 150 bar auf und stülpt einen Nesselfaden nach außen, der gleichzeitig das in der Nesselkapsel enthaltene, lähmende Gift abgibt. Nachdem die Qualle auf diese Weise ihr Gift verbreitet hat, werden die Nesselkapseln abgestoßen und neue gebildet

Fascinating Nature - First Double Rainbow

Just 20 minutes ago during sunset I could admire the first amazing double rainbow of this year from my balcony. It was so full of colours and I could see the end down on the earth ... I really enjoyed this nature spectacle!
In the background you can see the Kappelberg Fellbach with the vineyards.

Gerade mal vor 20 Minuten während des Sonnenuntergang konnte ich den ersten Regenbogen und dann noch einen doppelten in diesem Jahr sehen. Erstaunlicherweise war er sogar bis ganz am Boden voll sichtbar. Das Natur Schauspiel hat mich sehr erfreut!
Im Hintergrund ist der Kappelberg, der Weinberg von Fellbach, zu sehen.

... at the Clearwing (Greta oto) .. a butterfly, which fascinates me. His wings are transculent and thus he looks like still more tender. Only the orange frame around the transparent areas let the butterfly seems to be colourful. The range of the wings is up to 6 cm . His home is Mexico and Panama. The most common English name is Glasswing.

Durch die Flügel hindurchsehen, das ist möglich bei dem Glasflügler (Greta oto) ein Schmetterling, der mich fasziniert. Er hat transparente Flügel und wirkt dadurch sehr zart. Lediglich die orangene Strukturfärbung lässt ihn bunt erscheinen. Die Flügelspannweite ist bis zu 6 cm. Seine Heimat ist Mexiko und Panama.
