Taken in late afternoon just as "weather" moved into the area.
Notre Dame de Paris was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress (arched exterior supports). The cathedral's architects built supports around the outside walls in response to stresses from the "thin walls".

My favorite sculpture in the Louvre. The Victory is believed to date to approximately 190 BC. Despite its significant damage and incompleteness, the Victory is held to be one of the great surviving masterpieces of sculpture from the Hellenistic period

The Venetian Arsenal (Arsenale di Venezia) was the shipyard and naval depot in Venice that was formed from various small shipbuilders. The Old Arsenal was built between 1100 and 1300, and the New Arsenal between 1300 and 1400, while the Newest Arsenal was built between 1473 and 1573.

At the peak in the early 16th century, the Arsenal employed some 16,000 people who were able to produce a whole ship each day, and operated a production-line basis that was not seen again until the Industrial Revolution.

This lion sculpture (575-550 BC) is one of the lions from the trrace of lions in Delos. It was transported to the arsenal in Venice sometime in the 17th century. This one seems to be in much better shape than it's remaining brothers located in Delos (see below).

The Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute (Basilica of St. Mary of Health), commonly known simply as La Salute. It's located in a prominent placve in Venice, at the junction between the Grand Canal and the Bacino di San Marco on the Venice lagoon.
