One of a pair of long-since-disused dock cranes that stand alongside West India Quay in London's Docklands, presumably as a piece of industrial heritage to maintain some kind of connection with the site's original reason for being.

The modern building on the left is a Marriott Hotel.

The white rendering that covers the majority of the facade of Se Cathedral in Funchal, Madeira does not extend to the corners. The irregular pattern of the dividing line between rendered and bare stone creates a pleasing effect, as seen here. It resembles "quoins" - enhanced, protruding stonework or brickwork at the corners - although as far as I could see it is simply the same underlying stone as elsewhere on the facade which has been left exposed.

Part of the Berardo Collection of contemporary Zimbabwean stone sculpture from the artists' community in Tengenenge. It is on display in the museum within the grounds of Monte Palace Gardens in Funchal, Madeira.

The work shown is by Leman Moses and is displayed in front of a photograph of the artist alongside another of his head sculptures. The photograph was taken at Tengenenge in 1967.

The Berardo Collection on display in the museum of Monte Palace in Funchal, Madeira, includes a geological section called 'Mother Nature's Secrets'.

This collection of minerals was assembled by collector Jose Berardo, many excavated from mines in Brazil.

'Pulchra ut luna' translates as 'beautiful as the moon'.

This photo shows a detail from one of pair of large panels of decorated tiles on display in the Monte Palace gardens, Funchal. At the centre of the second panel is an image of the sun, with the words 'Electa ut sol': 'bright as the sun'.
