Due to the rising issue regarding the current ongoing standoff between the terrorist and Malaysian Arm force at Lahad Datu, the number of people around the town area seems to be less than usual and somehow It felt quieter as if I was back in Labuan.

The boat on this picture were used by the local and tourist alike and it is probably one of the cheapest way to get to the nearby island.

Its been an interesting week for the Chinese throughout the world as they celebrate Chinese New Year which means public holiday to most people in Malaysia.

This picture was taken in the morning where I was preparing some coffee for breakfast. The contrast and pattern was truly interesting for me to grab the camera from my room to the kitchen.

A rather rare sight here in Labuan but its quiet common in the bigger city like Kota Kinabalu. This is the time where a 35mm or 28mm would work better instead of the 50mm lens.

An old picture from my harddisc but worth a second look. This picture was taken in the afternoon on the top deck of the ferry. The kids were running around the deck area and with nothing else to entertain myself, I snap a few picture of them.

Labuan is a rather clean town and rarely do I see rats and dogs straying around at night but its there lurking around in the darkness and I believe this is one of the few that was killed by a vehicle. Still, it makes for an interesting picture.

This was not taken this year as this some of the file that has been inside my harddisc for a long time since last year.

This is my first time going to a lantern festival at my own hometown and although it is not as big as I used to, The events is well received by the community regardless of ages and races. Hopefully I could visit more event like this in the future.

I have been using the Nikon D60 with its kit lens for almost 5 years now and I never use any other lens for street shooting before until a friend of mine let me try his Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G for a day. The lens is good with awesome resolution and nice bokeh rendition but somehow it have a very weird perspective distortion for a prime lens.

I notice this scene while going through the backlane of the shophouses and the scene look like Spongebob in some sort of way though.

There is a small number of old model Volkswagen beetle in Labuan but this one was taken during afternoon where the matte grey paint looks better compare to the usual glossy finish paint. I like old model vehicle and my favourite would be the Fiat 500 and the Japanese legend, Toyota Trueno AE86.

Labuan is a rather small island and one of the most common form of public transportation is a bus which is colored according to different zones within the island. I happen to pass through the bus station and soon I found myself walking around the parking area in which I happen to snap this picture.

Labuan is basically a friendly island and I rarely got myself into trouble other than the occasional question but its just their way of being friendly.

One of Malaysia most prolific politician is coming to Labuan for his first time since the last few years before he was thrown in jail. Since it has been a major news, there is a lot of people gathering at the main entrance of the event just to see a glimpse of the famous politician face.

The event starts a few hours late due to some 'roadblock' which is odd because there haven't been any major roadblock throughout the year.

Labuan have a rather small town that is built after the World War II where some of the building still exist until this day. This picture shows a young man hanging out along the 'five foot way' overlooking at the other passer by with a glimpse on the inside of a small convenience store.

A picture that shows a boy overlook his family over the sea. Labuan is an island that is surrounded with a decent beach and they have been a popular spot for visitor to have a picnic with their family, especially during weekends.

The participant are required to participate in the event warming up activity before the start of the event. Almost more than a thousand of people participant in this year event and it has been a wonderful event throughout the morning.
