I am "loving" this new lens with its beautiful bokeh. While I am taking the camera off "P" setting and playing around, this time the "P" setting actually was better than I was at choosing the settings. (Big surprise. /: ) hahaha!

This little fellow actually flew off from his cage to bite me. Little protective, I'd say... totally predictable lovebird behavior. Cute bird and my first "grandbird" that wasn't a chicken.

Watched these cormorants for about 10 minutes, playing "gimme the stick." It fell into the water, they retrieved it, and started playing again.

Cormorants are about half sunken into the water, so when they take flight, it takes a lot of energy to get UP!

Bird was sitting on top of the holly tree out back. Taken through a dirty upstairs window. It's about a 50% crop because there was a nasty reflection behind the birdie from the "dirty window." /: I have NOW washed the windows in hopes I can come back tomorrow morning and get the shot of the beautiful local cardinal fellow. I forgot my "memory" and by the time I got it back, my red bird (less than 30 feet away, sitting perfectly in the sunlight just outside my window) had flown away.

What part of "leave me alone," don't you understand?

This looks like hybrid between a coot and mallard duck. Marg tells me this is a Scaup and after looking on the Internet, I think she's right.

He or she was sunning in the top of the trees across the field from our house. Gorgeous shining blob until I hauled out the telephoto lens and braved the freezing 27 degree weather!

They say the females are larger, but they can range between 1.5 and 2 pounds. I think this is a female because she was huge! This is taken from a very great distance (stupid grin) making me very happy with my telephoto lens.
