Lightship

An old Victorian lightship, ruined on the bank of the Thames. I first saw this a couple of years ago and have been meaning to visit again with my camera. I'm hoping to be producing some photos for a band soon, so this trip was also a bit of a location scouting mission. Although the band aren't best known for their sea shanties or pirate jigs, we're planning on a naval / nautical theme for their photos. Arrrr.

Tech note: I used an ND filter on this shot, which reduced the light by about 4 stops. It's not one of the super-dark filters, but still allows for a slower shutter speed (around half a second for this shot) making the water looks a bit smoother than it would have done otherwise.

Taken during a late afternoon walk last week. I managed to knock off work an hour early and headed straight for the forest. Sweet Autumn.

I took this shot over a month ago, but only just got round to processing it for some reason. It was a beautiful summer's day, and I found myself with an hour to kill between a photoshoot and a meeting. I had all my camera gear in the car, and when I drove past this field I just had to stop and get a closer look.

We had just a few hours where there was a break in the clouds. This is an exceptionally beautiful part of the world, and I'm afraid this photo doesn't really do it justice.

My good friend Adrian. Not the most flattering portrait of him I'm afraid, as this was taken towards the end of this year's Gentlemen's Walk of Epping Forest and we were all a bit pissed. Good large for the details though.

Techy info: Taken in a pub garden, sitting round a picnic table, night time. Single SB-800 with diffuser triggered by SU-800. The flash was on the table - so lighting from underneath.

This was taken just a few yards from where we stayed in Norfolk. This area is usually used as a car park for the sailing folk. There were very high tides the week we stayed and I thought this one car looked so lonely.
