This is my FIRST completed attempt in doing star trails.

This is a series of sixty 30 second exposures with a one second pause between exposure. Using my Nikon D-3100, Tamron 10-24 wide angle at 10mm, f3.5.

I'm on my midnights and thought I would try this. This is my radio antenna at work. With all the bright lights into the parking lot I worried about finding a dark enough location for the camera.

Here's what we're using those cones for: driver training! So we are better drivers on the public roads. Less than half of the course that we were training on is shown in this shot. The other parts of the course was boring; cones in a straight line for weaving in and out of. That made for a boring shot.

We're at an old Wal-Mart parking lot in Abilene. The driver pictured above is practicing backing.

I hit two cones in the 90 degree turns; pictured in the foreground.

Abilene FD mast.

We were out on a situational planning exercise this week, so I haven't been able to post much. Today we were actually in the field setting up and testing equipment. This is a portable mast on a portable communications trailer for the Abilene Fire Dept. We were out on a scenario about an ice storm during winter that shut down 150+ miles of Interstate 20 from the east side of Eastland county to the west side of Taylor county. This was to be a real world scenario involving the State of Texas Departments of Transportation and Public Safety, Four sheriff's offices, several hospital districts and involving news media and even including faux rescues and attempting to place displaced motorists in either shelters or motel/hotels for the duration

This was shot on my Android and directly uploaded. I took a few shots with my Nikon but have been way too busy/tired to post those shots.

Exercise deployment at Union Hill, Callahan Co. Tx.

This is an inflatable antenna mast! It's 35 ft tall and an antenna would go on the top. We simply set this one up for the exercise for practice. And, yes, it is hooked onto the back of the pickup for stability. It can be placed on the ground to free up the pickup. We weren't worried about using the pickup today as we were simply practicing, but during an actual event we would take ti off the 'trailer' that it is on and place it on the ground. NO! We do not pull this down the highway like this, it rides in a separate trailer... a Field Support Unit (FSU). A 15' trailer that houses tents, sleeping bags, cots, generator, tools, tape, first aid kits, along with other necessary supplies.

second attempt, same as first slightly different angle (I like the first angle much better.) 60 exposures of 30 seconds each.

Way too much ambient light. Have to wait until this weekend when we go to Amarillo so I can get a darker sky.
