Last night a few friends and I drove into the "I Am Legend" part of Manhattan to get a first hand account on what is happening. Just as expected, the pictures and the videos we see on the news reports do not do it justice. On the bright side, people who were out on the streets were still going about their business as best they can even in complete darkness and there was no feeling of being unsafe at any point.

As I left my friend's rooftop and headed over the Brooklyn Bridge to spend some time in the park, I had a slight epiphany that I have never shot anything from north side of the Brooklyn Bridge, and come to think of it I haven't seen too many others either. I could of course be wrong so feel free to tell me so/share the photos. Perhaps it's the blightly lit congested buildings of the financial district that leads most people to point their cameras in the same direction (I'm extremely guilty of this myself) I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's great to see that old cliche of seeing something new in an area you've visited numerous times still rings true.

Some of you may remember the panorama I did from this location. I've been wanting to come back to this rooftop to do a long exposure but the opportunity never presented itself until now. Unfortunately, I did not have my tripod handy and had to do what I could by holding down my camera on the railing. To top it all off, I left my camera strap at home too and was more shaking from the thought of dropping my camera 30 stories down rather than the actual possibility of me doing it.

Growing up in mostly six-story buildings, this view seemed surreal. I really can't get enough of the fact that you can see three bridges (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg) as well as the motion and lights of the city below, please check it out bigger

Taken Wednesday morning after NYC got hit with another snow-storm the night before. Although this one was considerably less severe than the previous one that paralyzed the entire city.

Not exactly sure why I like this shot so much but I really do dig it. I shot this through a support beam (spare of the moment type thing) at the station and this is how it came out, I haven't touched one thing on this image.

Looks better large.

Lore is one of Lucy's sisters who are in town this week to catch Lucy run the NYC Marathon on Sunday. (Let's hope for no rain) Yesterday, it was our officially "Queens Day With Vitaliy" which more or less turned out to be a total bust because of the rain and the brewery we wanted to go to in Long Island (I know that's not Queens) was closed. But it was good hanging out with them anyway and she made a nice addition to my street lamp portraits set, especially with that oncoming car lighting up the background.
Perhaps bigger is better
