DON'T PASS US OVER RALLY TODAY

If you want a safer Princes Highway with more passing lanes be at the rally - 12.30pm at Swan Reserve. Rally will end at 1pm

More passing Lanes between Colac and the South Australian border will:

§Prevent 50 deaths and 300 serious injuries within ten years

§Deliver an economic boost to the region of $472 million in a decade

You can also lobby the Government by emailing the following politicians, or go to the Warrnambool City Council website and follow the links to send your protest to politicians.

A Grade

First met last in round 7 of the 2010 CHNL. Hepburn sitting on top of the ladder faced a determined bottom of the ladder Gordon. With Kristina Closhey still out injured, the Burras felt prepared with their squad to take the court. Taking first centre pass, Hepburn took one single pass into goals from the Wing Attack where Gordon’s defenders turned the ball over and scored the first goal to take the lead. This seemed to stun the Burra’s for a few minutes as they quickly tried to settle into their game.

Hepburn’s experience in defence settled first and the game started to flow along at the pace the Burras were working too. Jane and Libby in goals shooting at 95% in the first quarter had Hepburn holding a 14 to 3 lead. A very determined Gordon started the second in fine form once again rattling Hepburn’s game plans at the start. Hannah Cameron-Taylor who was injured in warm up came on court at Goal Defence in the second half and helped drive the ball through the centre in attack. Jane Lienhop at Goal Shooter with the help of Libby Purtell at Goal Attack, managed to out move her defender and offer herself time and time again to miss only 2 of her 27 goals in the last half. Hepburn’s coach praised Gordon for their tenacious game.

Final Scores: HEPBURN 56 defeated GORDON 11

Goals: Jane – 85% 41/48, Libby – 78% 18/23

The Mo Shepherd award went to Captain Libby Purtell for outstanding work in attack.

B Grade

200th gamer Kristi Pedretti saw her undefeated team into round 7. Hepburn’s reserves were well prepared after a week of solid training. Focussing only on their game plan, the Burras shot to the lead in minutes. Hepburn’s strong mid court from Wing Defence to Wing Attack quickly dominated their opponents and took control of the ball. Outstanding attacking support in goals by Tania Grant at Goal Attack helped sharp shooter Mel Penny take them to a 17 to 4 lead at the first break.

Only one change bringing Courtney Wetzel on as Goal Keeper in the second and Hepburn continued to control the ball. Janee Brown’s speed in Centre backed up with Naomi Uwland at Wing Attack consistently rattled Gordon’s mid court defence. Supported by Mel Brown in Goal Defence and the quick hands of Caitlan Ryan at Wing Defence, Hepburn’s attacking line up became sharper and more direct.

Tania Grant stepped up again and offered herself more. With more options for the centre court feeding, the Burra’s goalers were relentless with their offers and attempts. The game continued at a fast pace with Hepburn refusing to slow down. Calm and controlled, the teams confidence grew through the match. An outstanding 2 quarters at Goal Keeper for Coutrney Wetzel kept her opponent scoreless.

Final scores HEPBURN 62 defeated GORDON 11

The Cutting Studio Award went to Janee Brown and Mo Shepherd award to Tania Grant for outstanding work in attack.

C Grade

Hepburn’s C grade had an outstanding win in round 7. Lead by Cam Nolan in Centre, the Burras managed to quickly settle into the game and take control. 16 year old Ange Giacometti at Goal Attack was brilliant again. Her height, attacking speed and accuracy in goals leaves her opponents behind. Shooting 22 to 0 in the 1st backed up by Lisa Elleton at Goal Shooter.

After a solid training this week, Hepburn were confident with their abilities. They rotated the bench and achieved results ever time. Alyson, Desi, Maddy & Tash also controlled the defence and prevented Gordon from scoring for most of the game. Hepburn had their best result for the season with a strong 67 to 6 victory.

Mo Shepherd award went to Cam Nolan for outstanding work in attack and defence.
