Hennessey Venom GT Spyder

New for 2013, the team from Hennessey offers a removable hardtop and soft-top roof for their Texas-built supercar. The first production Hennessey Venom GT Spyder was just delivered to Aerosmith lead singer and former American Idol judge Steven Tyler.

Steven came to us last year and asked if we could build his Venom GT as a roadster, said company founder John Hennessey. We had to make a few structural changes to our
integrated roll cage in order to be able to fit the removable top. This increased the weight of our vehicle by about 30 pounds to a curb weight of 2,743 pounds (1,244 kilograms). We decided to increase the Venom GTs power to 1,244 bhp to maintain our 1 horsepower per 1 kilogram power-to-weight ratio.

The 2013 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder sports a Hennessey-built 7.0 liter (427 cid) twin turbo V8 power plant producing 1,244 bhp at 6,600 revolutions, making it the most powerful roadster in the world. Tested zeroto-200-mph times of 15.3 seconds make the Venom GT the quickest accelerating supercar on the market.

The Venom GT is not only one of the most powerful roadsters on the market, it is one of the rarest. Eight Venom GTs have been built, and production is limited to five cars per model year and twenty-nine cars in total.

Ferrari created this first Series II car (chassis 5571GT) in 1964, with the lower and shorter Pininfarina body built by Mike Parkes. The car won the Daytona 2000 km driven by Phil Hill and Pedro Rodriguez. It then raced at Sebring, Le Mans, Reims, and finally Nassau, again piloted by Phil Hill. This GTO, presently is in the care of Cavallino Holdings, was once owned by Bernie Ecclestone.
