This was the first day of our trip through South Norway. We went from Larvik via Porsgrunn through Telemark. Our idea was to travel to the South west coast and then decide to what place we would travel next. Traveling with a camper means a kind of freedom. The only thing we booked was the crossing with the ferry .The road through Telemark was very nice. Sometimes steep roads and mountains around us, other times along lakes with lovely views.

This is a spot I like to be when I am busy in my head. From here you look over the sea and see the islands . Birds are sitting on the edge of the water , gulls are crying ,the wind is around your ears and no traffic is to be heard. We went down the dike here and walked on the clay. Sometrimes wet, sometimes dry. The flood does not come right to the dike, so it is easy to walk on this part of the shallows. I am always relaxing there.

Today we drove back from Amsterdam Airport after having taken our friends there. We always drive via the dike (Afsluitdijk) which divides the inside sea from the Waddenzee. The inside sea was completely frozen. This is one of the images I have taken. Because of the wind the water, being swept, has been frozen on these poles. An amazing view.

Just cold. Not too much snow here, but much ice. Frozen lakes and canals.
This is a view of a small lake nearby. All frozen now. I didn't see any bird anymore. It was all quiet and a still landscape.

Training for the Eleven Cities Tour??

In The Netherlands a kind of fever has come up.
The Eleven Cities skating tour fever . The last time we had this tour was in 1997. As Friesland has 11 cities the tour is passing all of them. It is a more than 200km (about 170 miles) skating tour on canals and lakes. The ice is growing thicker and thicker, but not thick enough everywhere to carry so many skaters.

This photo was taken quite near our village. This is a polder where they can skate as soon as it has frozen a few days.

The past weekend we went away with the camper and satyed on a camping in Schoorl, which is situated at the North Sea.
The weather was fantastic, sunny, though cold. The way to reach this beach was taking the bike and ride through the dunes
(about 4 miles) . We walked along the beach and saw these gulls sitting at the end of the breaker (breakwater).Of course there were enough people walking along the beach. It was and still is Autumn break in Holland. Our part ( North) had it last week and now the other part of the country enjoys it.

This is one of the public telephone booths in Stockholm.
A city defenitely worth a visit of more than the 3 days we had. There is so much to see.

In May we were in Denmark for three days . We usually drive from south to north and then take the ferry to Norway, but this time we decided to have a betterlook in the North of Denmark and then visit Skagen and Gamle Skagen . The light there is really different from the light at other places.No wonder there have always been and still are so many painters and sculpturers and other artists.

This little robin is always, together with a blackbird, the first bird waiting for food early in the morning.
It is still rather dark then.
It is every day in the garden and chases every other robin away.
Our garden is its Kingdom.
I love these little guys .
It likes to sit on this flowerbasket which is hanging in the apple tree. Now that I know I always put food in it.

Yesterday, when I walked Nora, I suddenly saw a bird flying into the bushes . First I thought it was a small Jaybird, but coming closer I saw something yellow at the end of its tail. Then the tuft and than I knew. But to be sure I had a look in my bird book and saw I was right. A Waxbird. Only coming South when the Northern countries have no food enough for them.
I got my camera, changed my lens ( 300mm ) and went back, just around the corner and they were still there.
I haven't seen them today. I hope I will see them once more.

These white cows in the Pyrenees are walking freely. As a automobilist you have to take care , for you have no right of way. . Fortunately they don't walk on the roads, like they did in Norway. .

First there were 2 and a little later 3.
The one on the left was having a nap and the 2 on the right were in full conversation all the time.
This was in Mirepoix an ancient city in the French Pyrenees.

Sorry my dear friends. I am behind with commenting again.
I hope to comment ever day to a few of my contacts.
My goal is to upload myself fysically, because I neglected that for the past few weeks and that has its repercussions on my knee and of course the rest of my body. Also on my mind. The better I feel fysically , the more positive I am.

A special place where you can see many rocks and stones of all sorts. I copied the description from wikipedia, so that you can read the history.
Two days after we had visited this historical and interesting place the rocks had been polluted by the oil leaking from a ship. During the storm the cap[tain of the ship decided to sail close to the coast. Not very sensible with all the rocks. We saw the oil and dead birds. I will upload some photos of actions taken to protect The coast against the oil.
