Me using my new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 - I absolutely love it. I also tried I new kind of post processing, reducing the black and the white point.

Last weekend I discovered this old boat nearby the Oberbaumbrücke on the Universal Studios areal, which was, to my suprise, open for everyone. It was dark as hell and I couldn't focus quite well. I simply had to use the hyperfocal distance, which is fortunately easy to find at 14 mm.

Well, if you wonder why the whole surrounding looks like a day shot, here's a simple explanation: Everything was so dark, that I had to brighten the boat so much, that it wouldn't have make sense to darken the sky this much as well. Besides I like this style of post processing. I hope you, too!

When my girlfriend was visiting me in Bonn for some reason we decided to make some funny shots of ourselves. Actually this was a test shot on my tripod to focus correctly for making photos of us two with the remote release later on. By taking a closer look in Lightroom I decided to give it a try - and well, what else - I like it very much. I especially changed the white balance from warm to cold and from green to rose. I hope it looks natural. To see the comparison with the original one quickly visit my facebook fanpage!

Since last week Wednesday the Festival of Lights is a constant visitor in Berlins inner city. I traveled out for a little photo walk last Sunday and was not surprised to see how many people are out there. Traffic jam at 11 p.m., amazing. This is my first impression, a bit old school and not colored. Btw. I like the colored version as well, but it was hard to photoshop this and I don't want to do all the work again ...

The clock is in front of Humbord University Berlin.

blue hour lights

Just to test Lightroom 4, I took an older photo which I suddenly found in my database. It's quite joyful to work with some new feautures, but it brings my computer to its limits, which is quite painful and reminds me, that my lovely heater is not the youngest anymore. But whatever, this shot was planned as a panorama. While stiching it summer last year, I decided to categorize it as "bullshit". Then, the photo was sad and poorly crying, so I thought I'd give it a chance now. Look, now the photograph is quite happy to be here on flickr. :)

We stood on a bridge and took this photo. Post processing was quite intensive here. Not just about cross processing, also about a lot of local color corrections as well as contrast adjustments. Hope you like the mood!

This weekend, my girlfriend and I went on a day trip to Maastricht. A few photographs will follow, at first this simple shot about the Mosae Forum - a shopping mall in Maastricht. It was very foggy this morning, and we also had a lot of snow, which already melted near this centre.

Finally I did it this winter! Finally I went to my favorite ice rink in Berlin. I really like it, it's some kind of an old hobby where time is still short. So I never could force doing it more often and nowadays I'm glad, if I am on rental ice skates once a year. Some kind of a sad story, I guess. This time I took my camera with me. Hope you like the post processing and the dynamic I wanted to create.

My girlfriend was so kind to get out with me on a little photo session to "Jannowitzbrücke" in Berlin 2 weeks ago. This is the result after modifying it a little bit. Just dodging and burning, white balance modification and working with the gradation curves. Hope it's not too blueish for you, since I now calibrated my monitor in Berlin - which is now a little too "warm" and "red" for me - but okay. ;)

Yesterday I took the time to buy me a few things and by the way collect some impressions with my cam. Now I can find a bit more time to concentrate on photography again and so I am sure to be back on flickr next week - so you will receive some comments as soon as possible.

This photos was taken from "Alter Zoll" and is showing the Deutsche Post Tower and a tower which name I am not sure of. It was very windy this evening and I had some trouble to calm down my tripod. This is the sharpest result I could get. Post processing was influenced by some flickr pictures I have seen over the last years. I am now starting to show you my understanding of Bonn, which is really a beautiful city (at least for me)!

Whoa, I'd never thought to have so less time during my new work. But yesterday I solved some display issues and now could work on one of my favorite photos of the festival of lights. But I was too lazy to remove the annoying people - but you actually have to deal with it. :)

I really love the lights from the ship which made the painting on the bode museum by accident. I hope it isn't too dark at all. Now, that I darkened my monitor to come as close to prints as possible I had a lot to brighten up the shot in lightroom. (by the way I really think the photo originally was dark as hell ...). Hope you simply like it. :)

After hours of calibrating my monitor I hope that everybody now is able to see my photos as I created them. Such a damn science, if you know what I mean. In the meantime I "arrived" in Bonn and found a little and nice flat, where I will move to in the next weeks. Meanwhile I am still going to sleep in a nice hotel ...

The photo was done during the festival of lights in Berlin two weeks ago. You may see some paintings on the left of the cathedral.

about stripes and tunnels

During our little tour down the "Museumsmeile" we found this little nice piece of modern architecture. I like the style of the tunnel, which is not quite symmetrical. This trains station is leading over the autobahn and the light stripes you see on the left and on the right are cars passing by. The next train was ours.

Don't worry, I am not dead! This week I arrived at Bonn, my working location for at least the next month at BWI Systeme GmbH. So still not much time to take some photos or to comment! I hope you won't kill me for that reason, I think next week I'll give a comeback at commenting. Now, I am lucky to present you this work. It is post processed with my new laptop and the screen is really not the best one. I hope the coloring is okay for you. I wanted to give it a blue touch, so don't mind if it's a little bit too blueish for you. And I wanted to keep the colors vivid. If there's something you really don't like and you think my color and brightness settings really suck, please tell me!

This is btw the headquarter of Telekom AG in Bonn.
