This is an installation in Scrivener Square, one of my favourite public spaces in the city.

The top tray fills with water and when, every 45 seconds or so, the water reaches a certain weight, the tray spills into the pool below. There are benches right nearby, and pedestrians walking up Yonge Street seem mesmerized by the performance. I love it just as much as the fountain in front of my apartment.

I'd wanted to get this shot for quite some time, but it isn't on my way home, so I would have had to make a detour.

As it turns out, the TTC's rapidly delapidating system solved the problem for me. All subway trains between Bloor and Lawrence were halted because of signal problems, so I got off at Bloor and walked over to the bridge.

The shutdown lasted hours, so I walked home after this picture. At least I got something nice out of the whole affair.

People (including office workers having their lunch) love to sit on these bronze cows. Toronto did not have a good foundry capable of casting these, so Fafard had them made in Vancouver and shipped to Toronto.

Sad Panorama: Morell Memorial Fountain, Belt Line Trail, Toronto

This drinking fountain is on the Belt Line Trail, a popular spot with joggers.

Judy Morell, a marathoner, loved to jog along the trail and often told her family that she wished there was a drinking fountain at this spot. After her untimely death in 2002, her family, in September 2004, arranged for the installation of this fountain.
