Open door and open aperture - at fully open the wrought iron gate grille disappears, almost completely. I could say it 'looks nice' like shadow-play on the facade - but that would be self-deception, to excuse an imperfect capture...

With the lens stopped down a notch (or two) the foreground suddenly appears - but also messes with the main subject and eclipses some elements of possible interest... You never win :(

A 'study' from a less-visited corner of the garden. No flowers grow there and no sun shines (almost), so I thought there was nothing to shoot. But as I walked around with the Nex to 'excercise' the Jupiter 8 lens, I found these walls a little less boring than drying paint...

Back to that moss-covered bridge...

Experiment in DoF: selective defocussing of different parts of the image. As phones have no manual focus (yet), I 'cheated' the autofocus by locking it with half-pressed shutter, then recomposing to include the part I want to appear blurred.

Couldn't resist sharing this - on the PC it would take me at least 10 minutes to produce (possibly more, knowing my appetite to experiment) - and with Instagram it was 2 clicks, literally!

Not the Grand Bazaar but one of the many passages off Istiklal street. Still retail 'a la Turka' - plenty of choice and colour, buzzing with life. (Press 'L' to see larger for more detail)

I accidentally discovered the Virtual Studio program and gave it a try. Ignore what EXIF says about software: this was NOT edited in PSE, but VS kills EXIF and, to restore it, I stacked the processed version as a layer over the original and blended at 100% - this keeps all original data, except for the added 'signature' of PSE.

Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 manual lens stopped down two notches.
