There was a big storm that night in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.
3 people died, hundreds of trees broken by the wind, many major avenues flooded.

I've been waiting for a storm like this and trying to capture lightning for a long time!

Several people suggested a cropped version of the original, so here it is.

The yellow building is a famous hotel called The Royal Palm Plaza, near my home.

My photo in the newspaper first page, Oct/31/2007.

This photo and the other one showing the lightning rod getting hit was published 4 times this day, in 3 different newspapers and also shown on TV.

We haven't seen a big storm like this in Campinas for a long time, 3 people died, hundreds of trees taken out by the wind, many major avenues flooded.

Lightning at The Royal

Looks better full size, there's lightning all over the photo.

This photo was published in the first page of the biggest newspaper on the city I live, Campinas.

The yellow building is a hotel called The Royal Palm Plaza.

Lightning Rod

This one hit the lightning rod of a mobile phone antenna.

Notice the hotel Royal Palm Plaza on the left also with some lightning.
