Cape D'or Lighthouse, Nova Scotia

Today I had the opportunity to take a drive up to Cape D'or and the Advocate Harbour area of Nova Scotia. The lighthouse is located on the Bay of Fundy which is home to the highest tides in the world. Although it was a little cool with the wind blowing in off the water, it was a great place to visit and well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Halifax.

#387 in Explore on Sept 12th, 2009! Thanks everyone!!

We were out at Atlantic Motorsport Park this morning to take in the practice sessions of the ARL series as they prepared for their final race weekend of the 2009 season. Took a large amount of photos and am in the process of sorting through them but I took a liking to this one so here it is. This will be the only one from the track that I am posting on my stream as the rest will go on my other stream which is dedicated only to things that move. If you're interested, check it out but will most likely be a few days until I get some more posted. Here is the link: Redline Photography on Flickr

I have taken some pics out at that track before at the BMW Driving School but these guys are much quicker and therefore it's a little harder to get the hang of tracking them as they go by. But it does get easier and I am looking forward to getting out there more next season.

We were out at Peggys Cove for a short while on Sunday after what was left of Tropical Storm Danny had breezed through and the waves were putting on quite a show. Unfortunately there are people in just about every shot I took while was there but I think everyone in Halifax had the same idea as PC was crawling with people so it was near impossible to get an angle that didn't have people in it. Needless to say there were still a few nutcases that ventured a little too close and had to run for safety when a larger than normal wave crashed in.

This is the first moose that we came across on the Skyline Trail. We almost walked by it but my fiance spotted it through all of the trees. I imagine that most people would have walked right by it as it was pretty concealed by the trees and was hardly making a sound as he ate leaves. We watched him for a few minutes until he started to come closer and then we decided that it would be better to put some distance between us.

One of the days we were in Cape Breton on vacation we made the trek up to the Skyline Trail which is about 20 mins north of Cheticamp on the Cabot Trail. It is roughly a 7 km (2.3 mile) hiking trail which has an incredible vista at the end and takes roughly 2 to 3 hours to complete. Also along the way you can see some wildlife which is where we saw this critter. :-)

This is actually the second moose that we saw and we had to wait until pretty near the end of the trail to see both of them. We named this one Morris but as I think it may be a female, that name may not be the most appropriate. :-)

I'm still trying to get the hang of RAW processing and have tried this one in Lightroom 2 instead of the Canon software. Still feeling my way around with the program so not sure if I could have gotten this better or not but I liked it as it was so I decided to post it.
