Well that was a momentous occasion!
Literally just returned from shooting my first Wedding… ever!
It was a beautiful day, full of incredible pictures, moments and people. On the flip side it was also the most stressed/terrified I've ever been - scary stuff!

Still, through constantly reminding myself that the memory of their day lay entirely in our hands (I shot the Wedding with a friend), we got the job done. As much as I promised myself I would wait until I'm fresh-faced and awake to look at the photos I couldn't help myself. This one is one of my favourites… not counting the ones with people in… they're nice too!

Also, a MASSIVE congratulations to Michelle and Jon! Thank you so much, not only for inviting us to photograph your Wedding, but for treating us as guests and as friends. Amazing day!

By the way, it's a car handle - there seems to have been some confusion... an oven?!

Okay, first off I'd like to point out that I'm well aware that in English the word 'Giraffe' is spelt with two F's… then why did you chose to use only one?! I hear you desperately cry. Because this photograph was taken in France and the French are so awesome they only use one F… in everything!

This was one of the better photographs from the trip and sadly it's still not perfect, no where near as sharp as I'd like it to be and there's probably a little too much dead/negative space; still I like it all the same.
Had an amazing long weekend away with Francine et ma Famille, just what the doctor ordered!

I know right, Giraffes roaming around France, what next?!

I rarely set up photographs, in fact, unless you're looking at my ~~unfinished~~ Gummy set you'll be hard pushed to find a photograph on my stream that isn't of something I stumbled across.
Still, it's good to break from the usual to… the usual. I say usual because this kind of photograph is very 'in fashion' at the moment, a lot of people tend to be doing it and I can see why; lenses are pretty things! Put them in the right place, with the right light and you're halfway there.
Just wish I had more of them… don't we all?

A small but necessary boost of colour to my stream, everything's been a little black and white recently so here's one that's black, blue, brown and white! I know, amazing!
Not long ago a friend asked me to take some photographs around her shop to go on her website/facebook etc… This turned into a sort of 'explore the shop and take photos of anything and everything' sort of deal and the above is one of said photos.
It's the letter box on the front door, believe it or not!
Talk about depth of fun!

Worm's Head

Took a tent to Rhossili (South Wales) this weekend and until this happened I was asking myself why. Next to no sleep, freezing cold and sat on a windy beach for a good few hours can have a somewhat... negative effect on your mood.
Still, when it all leads to a sunset like this, on a beautiful part of the World it's totally worth it.
Slightly risky for the camera this shot, using the lens hood to prop it up on the sand, I positioned it inches from where the waves came to a stop and hoped for the best. The perspective works (I think) versus the hundreds of 'seen it before' shots I took and as a result, is my favourite!
Sorry to those I was with for being grumpy that day, I've decided I don't do cold!

On a different note, the 365 project has temporarily taken a back seat. Starting Uni in two weeks so I've a busy month ahead of me and don't know if I can guarantee finding the time. Shall be up and running as soon as I can!

This is Tigger (I think that was his name), or rather, this is the back of Tigger's head.
The jumpiest of Karen's three cats, this one took a little while to warm to me, but he got there and eventually trusted me enough to pose for me in the garden during the last few days.
I must have spent a good 20 minutes taking photos of him, the colours and textures in his fur were fascinating me, though I think I started to annoy him. He wasn't a fan of having a camera in his face!

Another item of Karen's here, a glass chess set found on one of many shelves in the living room, each filled with either interestingly-weird books or equally as interesting... things (like the Lamellaphone from a few photos back).
Didn't quite get the desired effect here, I think the Depth of Field is too shallow... can there be such a thing?!

Coming home late on a Sunday evening, snuck into the quiet carriage with Fran and explored with my camera… quietly. ~~(that sounds all sorts of wrong)~~
A friend pointed out to me that the photographs I usually take are of things we see everyday that lack importance, but they're from an angle which few of us have seen, or tried to see. Although not unique, it gave me a little definition to what I do… which was nice!
I guess this photo is a prime example of that. I liked the angle, colours and all that other stuff.
How many commuters have seen this everyday and ever thought to lie on the floor and have a peek from this angle? …Why would you bother.

While you're at it, take a look at this lovely photograph taken by the equally lovely Francine on the same journey.

Blind Spot

Woah, it's been a while.
So... I started Uni in October, wont go into it here but it's been amazing and now I'm back for a month over Christmas! (expect a flood of pictures and crazymegastupid excitement because I still find Christmas amazing).
Anyway, one of the few trips out with the camera since starting was under a bridge next to my flat, more interesting than it sounds I promise!
You can probably tell this is a security camera, took a few of it but this one was my favourite. A cold, sterile, fairly empty location and I think it shows.

I would write more here, talk nonsense as usual but there are things I've missed that I have to attend to! (My dog.)

The Harv

'The Harv' (short for Harvey) is our 10 year old black Lab and these are his feet (not all of them), and he comes everywhere with us. As mentioned in the previous photo I spent the weekend in Rhossili with the 'rents and of course, The Harv was there.
This was taken on the second day at 'Oxwich Bay'. Harvey, being 10 years old mixed with two full days of running around like a lunatic, decided it was time to snooze on the sand. I decided it was time to take photos of him!

If you can, ignore the spider web which is out of focus where it needs to be in focus and look at the background. That's why I chose this one!

Karen's garden has the most spiders I've ever seen in one place ever ever, frequently re-experiencing that feeling of 'AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH' when you walk into a spider web as a child was fun!

Wow I'm getting lazy with Flickr, still have the rest house sitting photos to come!

Right, this is the light in the living room, I had the idea after accidently catching it in another photo and I think it's pretty effective.
Photos that make you get into strange positions are always fun and this one was no exception, trying to hold the position I was in to get the line on the lamp shade pointing down was... interesting.
Apologies for the brief description with these 'catch-up' photos, will return to normal soon enough!

This is a washing line, amazing isn't it? I was trying to get a complete corner to corner kind of thing here but apparently it didn't work, damn you cropped viewfinder! (That's my excuse anyway).

As mentioned before I was house-sitting for a friend, said house had one of those 'peep holes' in the front door, it may be a little cliché but I was having fun! Admittedly I'd liked to have taken a picture of someone on the other side but never got the chance.
This was a re-attempt of my first try and it's better and worse. The focus/exposure/colour-balance in this one are much better but the original had the rim of the hole itself. Another lesson learned!

Home sweet home... I have returned! I've been house-sitting for a friend for the last two weeks (the reason for my absence) and what a flickr-lacking-cat-filled two weeks it was. I know right? How did I cope!
Still, I stuck to the photo a day rule, though they might not be the ones appearing because I'm breaking the rules for this 'batch'. At this point I just want to get them up here so I'm choosing 12 of my favourites instead.
I apologise in advance for the spam from me today, it'll be over before you know it!

Oh yeah the picture.
The person I was house-stting for (Karen) is a big lover of 'alternative' instruments, one of which was this thing, a sort of half coconu... I'm going to google it... aha!
It's a type of Lamellaphone, not that you can tell at this angle. Supposedly for making music, my own use was the odd five seconds of amusement when I walked passed it (I did spend a good 20 minutes trying to work out Tubular Bells but I think I gave up when I found the keyboard).

I'm still trying to steer away from the naturey stuff, I know it's awesome but I really want to do something else, so a compromise in photo quality for something a little different today.
Took a wee fishing 'trip' off the seafront with my Stepdad and Uncle and naturally, I took the camera! It was good portrait light so I took the opportunity to take some 'candid' shots of the two of them fishing. It went alright, not as I expected but still not all bad and this is my favourite. It's odd I think, a little intriguing and that's what I like in a 'portrait'.
I really have no idea what I'm talking about!

Okay I'm cheating. I didn't take this during day 42, in fact I only took three pictures on day 42, three of which were utter shite... But (getting technical so I don't feel as bad), I did take one so I'm still on track!

Confusing nonsense aside, I really like this shot, took it during the same sunset as 'Sunblocks' and the goal was to get a nice silhouettey perspective thing (technical term) with the sun in the background. I think it worked quite well! Not a fan of half the picture being black 'dead space' but I think the upper half makes up for it.

This was taken on the lovely moors, I thought I'd missed the sun that day but it was amazing, the best sunset I've seen all year and I was stuck in the middle of a field with the wrong lens... ~~sod's law I guess!~~ Okay it was my own fault!
As with most of my photographs that have some kind of plant life in them, I have literally no idea what this fluffy stuff is, but it was floating all over the place and looked very nice in the sun.
I'm not entirely sure what it is that draws me to this photo, on one hand I think it's too messy, it's not all that obvious what you're meant to be looking at. On the other, that's a good thing? Oh I don't know!
Got some catching up to do with the uploading here, I'll get there today... Maybe.
