This is the second time this year I went to look for these magnificent kites. I waited for about an hour in 100 degree heat for a minute of upclose and personal time with them. It's well worth it ;-)

I can't quite make out what he is eating. I thought they were snatching cicadas from treetops. It is something green and still could be a young cicada just hatched. ???

Swallow-tailed Kite is my favorite bird. It can be seen mainly in Gulf of Mexico region from Florida to east Texas and only in the breeding season (Apr - Aug). I use it's image for my profile photo.

Bobcat @ Quintana Neotropic Bird Sanctuary

On 4/12/09 around 11:24, I shot this bobcat in the Quintana Sanctuary. It came from the direction of jetty, walked across the trail into the center of the sanctuary. I was sitting on the 'love seat' swing by the fountain with my camera ready for the bird. The lens was too long for this big cat, but I managed to put almost whole body in a frame. It was a great day for me. BTW I was about 10 yards away.
