After many years of evaluating I can say that due to street entertainment Liverpool you haven't got talent anymore.

Tranmere is a suburb of Birkenhead on the Wirral.
Its name was given by Norwegian Vikings who settled and colonised Wirral in the 10th century. Tranmere in Old Norse is Trani-melr, meaning "Cranebird sandbank" or "sandbank with the Cranebirds"
St. Catherine's Hospital occupies a large site in Higher Tranmere. It was originally built as the Birkenhead Union Workhouse between 1861 and 1863 and designed by Thomas Leyland. The new multi-coloured buildings in the hospital can be seen. the shot is a merge of three shots looking north.

On the first day of Snow last march I battled across Liverpool for a training course. Aghast the course was cancelled as the trainers where stuck elswhere in the country. Oh well another day to learn in the future.

Spirit of Liverpool and the Liverbird

Sitting on the apex of the Walker art Gallery in Liverpool.
The sculpture had been hoisted into position on the roof of the Walker a few months before the Gallery opened in 1877. It had to be removed in 1993 as the marble had deteriorated so badly.
Liverpool is portrayed as a gigantic royal woman wearing a crown and a laurel wreath on her head. She is sitting on a bale of cotton that portrays Liverpool’s trade and industry. A Liver bird, a fictional bird that is a symbol of Liverpool, is sitting by her left arm and in her left hand she is holding a steamship propeller. In her right hand she is holding a trident. Both the trident and the propeller are symbols of domination over the sea. At her feet is a painter’s palette, a compass and a setsquare.
This combination of objects was meant to symbolise that the arts find their support from trade and industry.
Today a replica in Marble sculpted in China to the original design sits on top of the art gallery.

Born in Liverpool, the son of a merchant Sir Hardman Earle and his wife Mary. William fought in the British Army (49th Regiment) during the Crimean War.
He was part of the Nile Expedition attempting to relieve General Gordon at Khartoum, and was killed following the Battle of Kirbekan.

Eleanor Rigby Sculpture by Tommy Steele

The statue was sculptured in 1982 by pop singer Tommy Steele, as a tribute to the Beatles.

A plaque next to the monument dedicates it 'To All The Lonely People'

Of course, Eleanor Rigby is a fictional character, although a grave was found near St Peter's Church in Woolton (where Paul met John) with the name Eleanor Rigby on it.

Inside the bronze sculpture are:
a four leaf clover; representing Nature
a page of the Bible; representing Spiritual Matters
a football sock; representing Leisure
a 'Dandy' and 'Beano' comic; representing Comedy
four sonnets representing; Romance.

In 1962 the Beatles had their first chart sucess, and the rest, as they say is history.
Today Matthew Street the home of the Cavern, the club the Beatles had a regular booking at is now a mecca for the faithful.
many people can be seen arriving to pay respects and homage to the four boys that started a new way of life. maybe in another fifty years the first Beatles gospels will sart to be reveared as sacred texts and with a hundred years the cannons brought together in one volume so that the faithful know how to give devotions and worship in the correct and prescribed mannor.
sounds like a religion evolving.

Pipes of Peace is the fifth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in 1983.
Paul McCartney was a Local Liverpool lad who has a bit of success with a sixties beat combo named the Beatles.
