Lorsque l'on va à Phuktal pour la première fois, on prend le risque de ne plus voir la vie tout à fait avec les mêmes yeux, le risque d'en rêver très souvent, le risque aussi de vouloir y retourner très vite !
Le lieu s'accroche à votre mémoire comme le monastère s'accroche à sa paroi rocheuse.
Le pire c'est que ce sentiment est décuplé lorsque l'on s'en rapproche ;-))
Pas la peine d'être bouddhiste, ni religieux, ni mystique, ni dévot, ni superstitieux, ni pieux, ni pratiquant.... de Phuktal émane une impression de force et d'étrangeté tout à fait unique !
Le mot qui me vient c'est "Respect" !
Respect du lieu, des hommes qui l'ont construit, des hommes qui y habitent.
Mais Phuktal est menacé par la route qui, à mes yeux, représente le plus grand danger pour l'intégrité du lieu. La route avance à grands pas. La moitié est déjà faite en partant de Padum.
Je vois cette route comme un poinçon s'incrustant en force dans ces paysages magnifiques et transformant du même coup l'équilibre de vie, si fort et si fragile à la fois.
Le lien qui existe ici entre la nature et les hommes est démultiplié par la rigueur du climat, l'éloignement, les conditions de vie difficiles, etc.
Aujourd'hui ce lien se déchire... pas forcément pour le meilleur... mais je n'espère pas, pour le pire.
Reste à faire confiance à la faculté qu'ont les bouddhistes de prendre le meilleur et de s'adapter aux changements, même extrêmes.

No need to be a Buddhist or religious or mystical, or devout, or superstitious or devout or practicing .... Phuktal emanates from an impression of strength and strangeness quite unique!
The word that comes is "Respect"!
Respect the place, men who built it, people who live there.
But Phuktal is threatened by the road, in my opinion, represents the greatest threat to the integrity of the site. The road is progressing rapidly. Half has already been done starting from Padum.
I see this road as a punch becoming incrusted in force in those magnificent landscapes and turning at the same time the balance of life, so strong and fragile at once.
The relationship here between nature and man is multiplied by the harsh climate, remoteness, difficult living conditions, etc..
Today this link is torn ... not necessarily for the better ... but I hope not, for worse.
It remains to trust the ability of the Buddhists to the best and adapt to change, even extreme.

Venir à la Gompa de Phuktal (Phugtal) en remontant la Tsarap à pied, c'est s'assurer une émotion visuelle forte. La gompa, sorte de petit nid face aux pentes démesurées qui l'entourent, est perchée sur la falaise à près de 4000 m. Une grotte abrite les différentes chapelle et domine les cellules dispersées en équilibre sur la paroi. 60 moines vivent ici, hiver comme été.... en pleine nature, isolés de tout.
Olivier Föllmi dit : "Phuktal, un modèle d'ingéniosité et d'audace, un exemple de volonté dans la recherche d'un lieu favorable à l'inspiration spirituelle et à son élaboration..."

Go to the Gompa Phuktal (Phugtal) is automaticly a strong visual emotion. The gompa, kind of nest, faced with these excessive slopes that surround it, is perched on a cliff at around 4000 m. A cave with chapels overlook the cells dispersed in equilibrium on the cliff. 60 monks live here, winter and summer .... into the wild, isolated from everything.
