I am always fascinated (please rest assured that you don't have to share this feeling) by the views you can catch between buildings. Here I was clearly attracted by the yellowish colour of the wall in the middle, and by the pattern of the roof of the bell tower. And by the laundry. Oh, yes, by the grey pipes, too.

This is the study upstairs. The view below gives you a better view of the room, but I was fascinated by this particular perspective, which I believe lets the picture by Max Cole truly shine.

One of the MAS boats used by Gabriele D'Annunzio for the beffa di Buccari. The boat is kept at Vittoriale, D'Annunzio's retreat on Lake Garda.

MAS stays for motoscafo armato silurante ("Torpedo Armed Motorboat"), but D'Annunzio read it as an acronym for his Latin motto memento audere semper.
