clivester posted a photo:

Poole Harbour, Dorset - 8th August 2009 17:56
A small boat sits in the calm water within the breakwater that surrounds the Quay in Poole. In the background is the breakwater and part of Brownsea Island.

Poole harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world, although it is very shallow there is a dredged channel for access. The harbour is a Ria (or flooded river valley) and is an estuary of several rivers - the biggest being the River Frome.

The harbour contains eight islands, of which Brownsea Island is the largest. Brownsea Island has many claims to fame; it is now in the hands of the National Trust and is stronghold to the lovely native red squirrel. There is a nature reserve and the island is generally a haven to wildlife. In 1907 it hosted the first camp of the Boy Scout movement founded by Lord Baden-Powell.

I admit to cloning out a tiresome green channel marker from this image as I felt it ruined the balance of it and broke up the natural blues.

Taken on a day trip to Bournemouth and Poole.

I finally put my final four films in for developing at the weekend - they were shot... oh... about three years ago! :S We shall see how they come out - I am having them transferred to CD so will be able to upload any that are any good. It's been so long I don't even know whats on them!! :)
