MO River Pano

Shot Info: Canon 400d, ISO 100, 18mm, f16, 3.2 second exposure, 4x ND filter used to smooth water and grad ND filter used on sky. 8 image panorama stitched together in Photoshop CS3.

Processing : RAW images edited in Lightroom 2.0 where I first added a -.5ev gradient to he sky. I also used a sunset preset of mine to enhance the colors of the sky. I adjusted the tone curve and contrast along with the saturation of the colors. I lastly set the calibration in lightroom. I then stitched the image together using Photoshop CS3. After stitching the image I adjusted the levels, and curves. I then removed some distortion from the waterline using the plugin PTLens and CS3's own lens correction filter. Lastly I added an unsharp mask.

This photo was taken at the Missouri River access in Jefferson City Missouri. Panorama lesson for the day, when shooting with a lens with bad barrel distortion, avoid using the widest angle. I would have much rather dealt with stitching 20 images than having to deal with the wicked distortion I had to fix. Trust me, it was a bitch. CS3 crashed on me several times (the pano was over 1 GB in file size before correcting and cropping). I almost gave up on the whole thing. Glad I didn't though.

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom where I adjusted the color slightly, brightened the shadows a bit, and added some slight vignetting. In CS3 I used onOne's Photo Tools to add some midtone contrast and then added some high pass sharpening.

This image was taken @ the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City Missouri.

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom where I added a warming preset. I adjusted the contrast and vibrance as well as some slight color adjustment. In Photoshop I copied the sky into a new layer and set the blending mode to multiply and opacity to 40%. . . this was hell. . . selecting all the little bits in the tree tops sucks!! I then added some high pass sharpening and that was it. Total time from RAW to finished shot was 30min.

This image was taken @ Little Dixie Lake in Millersburg Missouri. This is the same as my previous upload just a slightly different exposure and, well, obviously this is in color. This is edited a little to the extreme. The sky was quite dark, but not quite this dark. Quite the wicked storm either way. The winds were howling at around 50mph and it was tough to stand in.

Processing : HDR created with 7 bracketed images and tonemaped in Photomatix 3. Added levels, curves, and hue/saturation layers in CS3. Removed CA's. High pass sharpening.

Taken at County Park Lake in Jefferson City Missouri. This is an extreme view as I don't do so well with HDR processing. I like how it looks though. Ha, just noticed that after all that work in post processing, I never straightened the horizon. . . . doh!

Processing : Real basic adjustments of contrast and WB. Boosted satruation across the board for that surreal look. Sharpening and noise reduction in CS3.

Not my best work, but I just wanted to let my contacts know that I was still around. Hard to believe that this is my first landscape outing since October 13th. It's been crazy with the holidays and my fathers declining health from the cancer. Anyways. . . I'm off to catch up on your photostreams!!

Processing : RAW images edited in Lightroom 2.0 where I did minimal adjustments to the contrast, and the colors and added a -1.5ev gradient to he sky. I also used a sunset preset of mine to enhance the colors of the sky. In CS3 I adjusted the levels, curves, and hue/saturation. Lastly I added some high pass sharpning to boost the mid level contrast and tidy things up a bit.

This photo was taken at the Missouri River access in Jefferson City Missouri. The only thing that I wish I would have done here is used my 4x ND filter to smooth out the water. . . . ah what could have been. . . . LOL!!

Maramec Spring Panorama

Really minimal work here taking less than 15min total.

This photo was taken at Marmaec Spring Park in southern Missouri. This shot is actually of the trout rearing pool which is fed by the Maramec Spring itself.

There will definitely be more posts from this shoot as this is one of the most beautiful springs that I have ever seen. It was unfortunate that we had rather dull cloud cover for the better half of the day, but this cloud cover worked well on this shot in my opinion because I was able to get nice even light. Anyway, I will be posting my favorite tomorrow, a rather cool vertical panorama of a waterfall!!!

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom 2.0 where I desaturated the image. I added a digital grad filter to slightly darken the washed out sky and then boosted the blacks and contrast. Minimal editing in CS3 was done, only an unsharp mask was added.

This image was taken @ Mark Twain Lake near Hannibal Missouri.

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom 2.0 where I adjusted the color slightly, brightened the shadows a bit, added some slight vignetting, and set the camera calibration to Camera Standard Beta 1. In CS3 I added a levels layer and adjusted he highlights and shadows points. I added two curves layers, one for global contrast adjustment in the RGB channel and one Red channel to slightly darken the reds in the pedals and brighten the brightest reds on the top of the flower. Last step was to add an unsharp mask with a setting of 185, a radius of 1.5 and a threshold of 1.

This image was taken @ the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City Missouri.

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom where I converted to black and white. I adjusted the WB and contrast as well as the tone curve. LAB sharpening done in Photoshop.

This image was taken @ Little Dixie Lake in Millersburg Missouri. I had one wicked storm to watch with even better sunlight peeping though the clouds. The wind was gusting upwards of 50mph where I was. . . it got hard to even walk when the wind was blowing towards me. Tough stuff!!!

Processing : RAW imaged edited in Lightroom where I made a slight adjustment to exposure, fill light was adjusted, added contrast, adjusted vibrance, adjusted the blacks slightly, in Photoshop I applied LAB sharpning and noise reduction via Noise Ninja.

This image was taken @ Rock Bridge State Park near Columbia Missouri. I took this shot as the torrential rain started to fall and I had to shield my camera with my body!! Needless to say, by the time I hiked back to my car (over a mile away) I was thoroughly soaked to the bone. Luckily my gear was ok!!!

Ooo, my first image in Explore in a long time!!! Highest ever too @ 56!!!! I feel so special. . . . .LOL.

Processing : RAW image converted to B&W in Lightroom by desaturating all colors. Boosted blacks and contrast and adjusted WB. Adjusted curves. Vignetting added. Sent to Photoshop for sharpning.

I think my favorite thing about this one is that you can see the morning dew when viewing the original image. You may be able to see it when viewing large, but I'm not sure. This was taken in my backyard at around 6am. Thank you everyone for visiting and commenting!!!
