Part of what made it such a great hike was the colors. Changing from red to pink to orange to sand as we walked through different uplifts, different geological periods.

And that little pool stopped us. Maybe ten feet long but it was deep. We couldn't see the bottom so we'd be wading up to our woo-hoos at least and maybe swimming and the sun was disappearing and it gets cold in Utah in late November when the sun goes down and the worst part was it looked like a pouroff just ahead. Even if we swam we might not make it through. So we wimped out and turned back a little and found a way around. Would have been cool to do it all in a straight line but it was still cool to explore no matter how direct.

After the previous day's eye candy feast in Arches we decided to go for another winner - Jeep Arch. We repeated the familiar part, then took off from there for "somewhere new", looping the hike and making a whole day of it because that's what we were in Moab for. And because, as they say, "that's how we roll" :^)

Leading lines in the Tent Rocks slot. There are few places in there where you can snap more than one bend in the canyon, it's tight.

I'd be remiss if I didn't document the beauty of the sandstone. This is pretty stuff, the colors changing as you walk through different levels and geological periods.

The thing about this photo is, I can't tell whether it's a good photo or if I just remember the scene as being striking or it's the hardware. See, I've been doing everything on a Gateway laptop and a few days ago Mrs M borrowed a full sized monitor. This was the first vertical I saw on it, and when I opened it up it made me say "Whoa....."
So maybe it's my memory or maybe it's just new hardware. Whatever. Here's Willis Creek Canyon, right where it decides it'd like to be a slot canyon. The things water gets itself up to when nobody's looking...
