I love the way this shot turned out. Every week at the farmers market I take at least one shot that seems to have "vintage charm" (this week's Let's Do 52 theme!) -- something that reminds me of how farmers markets must have been through the ages, back when they were just called MARKETS, because, you know, there WERE no supermarkets.

This is one such shot, and it's very California. Avocados, sitting in a wooden crate, available for purchase, probably just picked off the tree yesterday. The "irregular" marking on the crate is probably referring to these gorgeous beauties even though they look (and taste!) perfect to me.

There is nothing quite like a locally grown, fresh avocado. Truly.

I've made ZERO secret of my love of daffodils. Imagine, for a moment, the look on my face this morning when I walked into the farmer's market and a stand FULL of different types of daffodils was staring me right in the face. Oh yes -- I was THRILLED!I Spring officially starts, for me, when daffodils bloom. ♥

Taken at the California Academy of Sciences last night while shooting a wedding, for the 8th week of the Let's Do 52 project. I thought all week about what "game on" meant to me, and thought about some planned photos, but as usual I chose to go with something unplanned. This dude? Was awesome. And he's CLEARLY giving me some 'tude.

This week's theme was "Pretty Ugly (beauty in the unexpected)." I had a really hard time finding the time to take a photo this week; I also had a hard time finding something that would fit the topic.

Finally, today I went outside for a trip to the store and found these amazing cards/flyers/ads scattered all over the alleyway outside my building. I instantly knew what photo I wanted to take. I find this sort of chaos beautiful, not only because I can play games with depth of field, but because it reminds me of the very similar organized chaos that comes from leaves falling to the ground in fall.

I had a lovely Saturday outing with my friend Amanda. On the way home, I stopped by the hardware store & decided to walk home, shooting photos in the waning light. I snapped this just down the street from the corner of 4th & Mission Streets ... and it turned out EXACTLY the way I wanted it to. I'm drawn to sparkly strands of lights like a moth to a flame, so the sunshiney lens flare was just a bonus. ;)

This week's 52 weeks theme is "sparkle" though this could also potentially be considered "unique perspective" if you look larger & see where my focus is. <3

For Paint The Moon's Let's Do 52 project.

I'm turning 30 this year, and think about responsibility and adulthood almost constantly. Last night I was also faced with a family emergency that kept us unexpectedly up all night and worried for the future. I took this self-portrait in the sunrise of my mother-in-law's backyard immediately after arriving back at her house at 7:30am. I think it shows.
