And in the heart of downtown, on a piece of waste-land there is a display of 500 toilets - to remind people of all those years spent hiding behind toilets to avoid sniper fire and to act as a theatre for other events.

The Syriac League is endeavouring to save cultural and religious artefacts prodcued by the Syriacs, people who originally came from between the Euphrates and the Tigris. They were some of the earliest christians.

The remembrance service on 11 Nov 2007 in Beirut is remarkable for the fact that up to 100 Palestinians who served with the British Army in the Second world War attend. We try and give them breakfast and a little present and take note of some of their ills so that we might be able to offer them some comfort.
