We met a young family a couple of times while visiting Zion National Park. I asked if I could take their daughter's photo and she immediately began posing for me. She is only 3, but has actually done some modeling for Macy's.

We visited the hummingbird enclosure at the Desert Museum. There were little hummers buzzing all over the place. And some, like this one, were content to do some preening for our cameras.

The sky was quite dark without the moon the other night. Local ambient light was enough to give the tree some definition on a long exposure. I converted to b/w because the color version had a strange orange-ish glow from the street lights.

Here I was, minding my own business, and this crazy man in a red suit came flying by in some sort of open contraption towed by a bunch of wild animals. It startled me so much that my camera got knocked around on my tripod. Messed up a perfectly good photograph... Oh well. Merry Christmas everyone!

I went to a shoot with my local camera club last night called "Playing With Fire." And yes, we did. Basically our fearless leader volunteered to be a human sacrifice while spinning a chain that had burning material on the end. Very cool effects and only a couple of burns. (Bigger is better.)

I found this interesting collection of signs a local county fair ground. I had to be careful because I didn't want people to think I was trying to take a photo of the women's restroom.

The other night we were fixing a veggie stir-fry for dinner. I was intrigued the shapes and colors. We were also trying out a new (to us) curry mix called Grand Curry. It was tasty!

While the we left the fog inland, there was enough moisture in the air at the beach to create an interesting fog-like effect.

Our camera club had an outing at the Mission Mill Museum (www.willametteheritage.org/) here in Salem recently. There were holiday lights everywhere, as well as singers, musicians, and crafts people.
