The festival of Struga Poerty Evenings (SVE) began in 1962 in Struga, then People's Republic of Macedonia with Macedonian poets only, while in 1963 it expanded its list of participants with poets from all around the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Miladinov Brothers Award was established for a best poetry book published between two consecutive festivals. By 1966 the event turned into an international cultural festival. The Golden Wreath international award was established in the same year and its first recipient was Robert Rozhdestvensky. Two years later, in a close cooperation with UNESCO, the Festival established another international award called The Bridges of Struga, for a best debut poetry book by a young author. During its long successful existence, the festival has hosted about 4,000 poets, translators, essayists and literary critics from about 95 countries of the world.

The festival has awarded some of the world's most eminent literary figures, including several Nobel Prize for Literature winners such as Joseph Brodsky, Eugenio Montale, Pablo Neruda and Seamus Heaney, the first African member of the French Academy Léopold Sédar Senghor who was also a President of Senegal, the official royal Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, W. H. Auden who is regarded by many as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, and many others.

A point of interest is that the festival often awarded foreign poets who were considered dissidents in their countries, including for example the Russian exiled poet Joseph Brodsky, the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, the American beatnik Allen Ginsberg, the Soviet bard Bulat Okudzhava and many others.

Aware that this is slightly out of focus but the flowers are very tiny and didn't have a tripod with me. Was attracted to the colours and the patterns of the flowers and the way my camera could only do a very short depth of field, which to me adds to the image. Also quite windy and the flowers were waving around a bit. Like the finished image though as it seems a more natural shot. Taken in Credenhill woods Herefordshire UK.

Taken high in the mountains of Albania in the Valbona National Park near the border with Macedonia. The water in this forest pond was pure blue and so tried to focus and expose for that. Had a problem with the reflected sunlight but kept the overall exposure compensated down. Cropped for composition.

El embalse de Escales (en catalán: pantà d'Escales) es un embalse que sobre el río Noguera Ribagorzana, creado por una presa situada entre los municipios de Tremp (antiguo término de Espluga de Serra) y Sopeira (antiguo término de Sant Orenç), que se extiende por los términos de Tremp y el Pont de Suert.
Construido en el año 1955 para producir energía hidroeléctrica y situado al pie de la carretera N-230 en la entrada de el Pont de Suert, es el más grande y emblemático de la comarca

Escales Reservoir (in Catalan: pantà d'Escales) is a dam on the river Noguera that Ribagorzana, created by a dam located between the towns of Tremp (old term Espluga Serra) and Sopeira (old term of Sant Orenç) , which extends the terms of Tremp and the Pont de Suert.
Built in 1955 to produce hydroelectric power and at the foot of the N-230 at the entrance to the Pont de Suert, is the largest and most emblematic of the region
