Day 97 - discard of days gone by

I happened upon this little red car the other day when I was out taking photos with the FTB and I took a few shots with it with the film camera. Today, I went back in hopes that the litte car would still be there waiting for me. Like our younger self, that it too is waiting - sometimes forgotten as we get older but nonetheless still there waiting for us to dig deep and find again.

I thought about the little red car. Wondered how it got here, who left it and was it missed. Even without the rear wheel, I could picture a little boy playing with the car lost in the fact that perhaps he was driving the car in the Indy 500 or a nascar race.

I thought of my youngest son Lee who at his young age, with cars like this, would have played with this little red car until all four wheels were gone and even then, would likely have the car set up as a wrecking yard relic.

I wondered how long it had been since it was played with and it made me sad to think that a child just discarded the little red car with no more thought to leaving it behind. Perhaps because was broken and would no longer be able to function as the toy it was created to be, a car with four wheels all shiney and new.

I debated taking the car with me after I photographed it today, if only to rescue it from the shoreline of Lake Ontario to keep it from being "swept out to sea" with no further thought on anyone's mind. After all that was said and done, I couldn't take the car with me because it was someone else's childhood, someone else's dreams and someone else's youth. Those things were not mine for the taking and so neither was the little car. I left it on the rock with the lake as it's backdrop.

Will the car be there when I return? I can only hope that if it is gone that a chld saw this car for what it still represents - youth and one's younger self that knows how to play, can get lost in a world of make believe and have no care or worry about what is happening in the world around him or her. If it is still there, well my camera and I will likely have fun photographing it.

So, you may see it again on my 365? Only time will tell.

A barn find?
No, it is a barn itself. Half of this Chausson bus is undercover. And it shows.
It seems that the Peugeot 403 has not been exposed that long.

Non, il s'agit d'une grange sur la sienne. La moitié de ce Chausson est couverte, l'autre part, il n'est pas. Et cela se voit. A propos, il semble que la Peugeot 403 n'a pas été exposé si longtemps.

Nee, het is een schuur op zich. De helft van deze oude Chausson-bus is overdekt. En dat is duidelijk te zien aan het deels verroeste dak. De Peugeot 403 is ten tijde van het maken van de foto kennelijk niet zo lang blootgesteld aan de elementen. Of de verfkwaliteit was beter...
